Wink Mobile Web Analytics from Bango - try it for free

Anyone with a .mobi can try out a mobile web analytics tool from Bango and see who is visiting their website - for free

Here's the sort of thing, it'll show -
    • How many unique visitors you have seen today?
    • What phones are they using?
    • What networks in which countries do my visitors use?
    • Which content was the most popular?
    • Which search term gives the best results?
    • What’s my total return from a marketing campaign?
    • Are there any problems with the routes into my site?
Go to www.bango.com/analytics and sign up for free (up to 100,000 page visits a month). Insert a tracking number into your site and see who's visiting. Really like to hear your feedback - does it do what you need it to? How could it be improved?

Hope this gives you more insight into who's visiting your site.

Coast, great question. Traditional web analytics get their data from JavaScript, cookies or log files, all of which have difficulty tracking mobile users. AW Stats is a log file analyzer, for example, and log file analysis of mobile users coming from the same carrier with the same phone are counted as a single user. This leads to inaccuracies that make it difficult to use traditional web analytics for benchmarking and optimization.

I'm unsure if I'm willing to redevelop my mobile site with Bango analytics - one has to replace all relative URLs with Bango URLs, and I'm not sure I'm ready to get Bango so intrinsically implicated into my web design.

I think it's great that Bango have come up with a solution that doesn't rely on technology that won't work on some phones, so kudos but it's not the right step for me.

Yes, your URLs become Bango URLs that then re-direct the visitor to the page they wanted on your side.

Bango have a PDF Guide available, but it takes some finding once you've logged in.

    Wedge and Eshan,

Bango has a good product in terms of accuracy and breadth of data, but it's not the only solution available. Mobilytics or Amethon might be more your speed. See the aforementioned guide to mobile analytics for details.

Apologies, here's a link to the guide http://bango.com/assets/data/support..._analytics.pdf

I'll check out the best way to make this more visible once you have signed up as it's clearly not easier enough to find.

    Thanks,

    Wedge,

Thanks for that feedback - there is unfortunately a trade-off between using link tracking and getting accurate data and a picture based system which is much more superficial. I can understand your reservations but businesses of all sizes are using Bango Analytics, including larger players like Sony Ericsson for their billboard ads. As a first step rather than replacing all of your links with Bango links, focus on key decision points in your site or external ads or goals.

We are exploring a simpler picture based tracking system which will be closer to your needs but don't want to compromise on quality of your results. The benefits of a links based tracking system is that you get much more detail about visitors - have they been to your site before, what's their country, network and handset?

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Sarah,

Will look into it. I'm developing very large .mobi sites, so I hope it's worth a try
