It's an individual choice. My US$150 contract-free Vodafone 845/Android 2.1 is more than enough for my current needs.

The big advantage and disadvantage of iPhone is that it doesn't show flash. It's an advantage when selling mobile sites to show a potential customer the big blank screen that results from an all-flash site.
