    Default Tagg.mobi - Shorten URLs and Share via Twitter, Facebook, etc

    This is my first .mobi in a while. I still have a few names kickin' around.

    Tagg.mobi allows you to put a link on your site to allow people to Shorten, Share via Twitter, Facebook, Text Message, or Email. I'll be adding more services to it as I find the mobile URLs. Felt good to make a .mobi again.

    Nice work. Looks good on my Android phone. Very easy to use. Just one suggestion: why not put the URL box at the top so people can use it right away.

    Is it possible to generate a shortened URL automatically by feeding a URL to the tagg API?

    Is it admob etc that provides the ad on a result page?

    The reason for the URL box not being at the top is I want it to be more of a sharing service, than a URL shortener.

    I was thinking of making the URL automatically shortened too, just now sure how to go about it. I would probably offer an API key, and you'd have to put a few lines of code into your site.

    So you could just call something like:

    PHP Code:
    <a href="<? echo TAGG('http://mysite.mobi'); ?>">Link</a>
    So it would require PHP on your end.

    There is an admob ad on the result page. Was going to do a "Waiting..." page with an admob ad, but I don't like those myself.

    Your idea of dynamic code generation is even better than what I thought originally. With it, mobile website developers can easily include Share Twitter etc. on each page.

    I could also add onto the API where it would display the facebook, twitter, etc icons with the URL already shortened. Could be as easy as:

    PHP Code:
    <?php

    echo TAGG('http://mysite.com','Facebook,Twitter,Text,Email');

    ?>
    Of course you would need to have a function on the page called TAGG() but that would just be a copy and paste from the API page.

    What do you think?

    Done, this is how it would appear on your website:

    http://tagg.mobi/test_api.php

    This is the code you would install on your page, or footer:

    PHP Code:
    <?
    function TAGG($url) {

    /*
        Services Available

                Twitter
                Facebook
                Text
                Email

        Comma separate the services listed above, that you would like to use.

        */

    $services 'Twitter,Facebook,Text,Email';

    $title 'My Website';        // Change this to the title of this page, or your website

    $c_url 'http://tagg.mobi/api.php?url='.urlencode($url).'&services='.urlencode(str_replace(',','-',$services)).'&title='.urlencode($title);

    $crl curl_init();

    $timeout 5;

    curl_setopt ($crlCURLOPT_URL,$c_url);

    curl_setopt ($crlCURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER1);

    curl_setopt ($crlCURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT$timeout);

    $ret curl_exec($crl);

    curl_close($crl);
        return
    $ret;

    }

    echo
    TAGG('http://mysite.mobi');
    ?>
    Give it a shot!

    Great service, i suggest you add this api to phpclasses depositories, so that it gets widely used without wanting to work on its advertisement.

    It may be useful for people who publish a lot of articles regularly, such as bloggers, news agencies, etc. Just save our time in copying URL of an interesting article and pasting into a URL shortening service.
