This is a great find, thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, it seems that microsoft.mobi is just a mirror of m.microsoft.com

    Better than nothing, though!

Unlike its .net, .org, and biz cousins, the .mobi site is the only one which does not redirect to microsoft.com. If the .mobi site stays, that will indicate the significant value MS believes .mobi has.

However, what really puzzles me is why a separate .mobi as mirror site of m dot. Why not have .mobi redirect to m dot? Is .mobi only a temporary site? We may know more by checking the .mobi site from time to time.

Anyway, thanks MakoyeMedia for this great find.

that seems really significant to me
they are probably going to measure the traffic between the m dot and the mobi
    this is really good news

That's a very interesting observation. If such information is also accessible to us, then we can also know the progress of .mobi.

I doubt if we will ever get to see this information, corporate secrets. :mystery:

Good news here! Thank you for letting us know. Let's hope that one day many corps will gradually faze out m. And start using .mobi as the mobile default extension!

I actually make a conscious effort to type in the .mobi version within the address bar (or google) instead of the m. version. In the hope it just might make an impact when surfing for mobile optimized sites!

it does look great on my ipod touch .. it is serving a different site from mobile.microsoft.com ... the site i am getting on my ipod touch is telling me about apps to download ... looks very good

so they have m.microsoft.com and mobile.microsoft.com and microsoft.mobi

a little confusing but they are doing different things with each

the mobi extension does device detection and serves a different page i guess
