Glad I came across it. Although I'd like to see more promotion by Frommer's about this site. I'm wondering if this is their forerunner test site with .mobi?
Being that it is with Los Angeles and not multiple cities.

Anyway, wasn't feeling much like talking a lot on my OP despite the fact that I was happy to discover this site. I think I had a long day. But, so glad you showed up in the thread, thank you! You cheered me up GetSmarrt!

    Cool find! Rep+

Looks like there is still probably more to be done on the site though. Likely a work in progress.

Travel guides are such a obvious application for .mobi. It would however be an interesting shift away from their print business model. Why would i still buy the printed version if I can access all 350 guides from my mobile? And how would they make money? Ads? Listing?

One thing is for sure, the mobile internet is turning a lot of tradtional business models upside down. And in time will do so more and more ..... Watch this space

The must be piloting this with LA and am wondering whether they will also eventually have 350 FrommersXX.mobi sites?

At least they did not go the FrommersLA route because they did not get Frommers.mobi!

Correct, they have Frommers.mobi in their hands as well.

Whichever, I think the fact that they know about .mobi and are willing to do the test run is a direction forward.

Well..taken a look on the site and wishing that they should have really validated it before launching.I spotted loads of markup errors, especially unclosed tags. While that is not a serious problem on a browser that supports HTML,it is really a shock if you are viewing it on an XHTML ONLY mobile browser.

Ignoring all markup errors, the content of the site seems COOL.

Agree. Lest I'd be Gretel without her breadcrumbs to guide her way around--
Seriously, that will be great! Tks.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm sure what you've just said here will be read & help them. Google this name and this thread is right there.. I don't think they have officially " launched" it yet so, hopefully further improvements will be made. Thanks SB reputation point added!

Do not test my patience. No, you may not use the other word in my thread and in particular; not to me! Serious.

Thanks HH, Binary, Mobineer-- thanks all!

Ahhh, gosh. Thanks, trix--you encouraged me. That is a great find and very much appreciated. Frommer's reaches a lot of people, it's just more proof that word is spreading. I used to be a library specialist, and when we would order books for the library, Frommer's was always very popular with librarians and patrons. Go mobi!

It's cool to hear that Frommer's are popular coming from the library specialist.
I love librarians, they are the most genuinely calm and peaceful ppl you can ever meet.

She takes pictures with her toy digicam and takes centered & focused pics, I think we should get her side gigs as photographer at weddings
