I am running SMF for xoc and messing with other names, also I heard SMF can actuly convert to VBulletin. The advantage of SMF is that it is free and very easy. And on the bright side, if it picks up traffic then you can switch over to VBulletin.

I am not aware of conversion between SMF and Vbulletin.. But, I hope we can all consider saving the $150 or so for one domain, somehow, because sometimes the notion of a one-time fee can really inhibit our own potential; in other words, I really feel the long-term investing of a mobile domain with Vbulletin is worth it..

Kinda look how nice Mobility.mobi is, and what I am saying is, any one of us can easily have the same exact set-up with ongoing new developments/updates (try to check out http://vbulletin.org community)

Once it is set up, it really runs itself..

    Thanks for your post compliments..

It took me ten years of failing to realize my best grassroots opportunity to "make it" today with an oncoming, new mobile frontier = Vbulletin with a nice .mobi domain. PC users are welcomed to your nice, rich PC Site administration :> Then, you have a mobile skin that is called with a Vbulletin mobile phone detection mod..

It's quite a shocking phenomenon that only a few people in the world are doing in this way 'till this day. I only see two in the entire world so far:

    1.) Mobility.mobi
2.) Humanitarian.mobi (I've included automated RSS and automated, targeted, Google Adsense for thread posts - the mobile Vbulletin developments are only in its beginning)

No sweat Yelo, My funds just ran dry or would of used Vbulletin now, I eventuly will.......I got a new site coming out Blings (logo will be added soon and a banner for selling Bling jewlery) I just did the simple SMF and will get VB once I get the funds together. I go great connections in Philly for Hip Hop and DJ's ect... to get it launched. Its just crazy now with the renewals comin up in October ect... Agreed, Vbulletin is the best, but you can't beat for free. I am using SMF for all my sites.

FREE is the best, but the best is always paid for most times. I can't wait to get some v buletines up, but for now I am launching the simple ones to spark And I bet you Gals and Guys know the term KISS "Keep it Simple Stupid" at least to get some up.

Here some more SMF, I just got to figure out the logos, but its a start, and will get it going soon. I was lucky to get that Blings 0rg

Blingit and cKuz <---its a hiphop gangsta term and LLLL.com

It is a good start, logos should be on soon.

Sorry for the double post, but I have a feeling that Mobile forums will be very powerfull with the mobile world. And eventuly people will build them up to a greater degree and the same with any other communication pages/sites.

Now this quote is from me lol

"People are lonely when they are alone" --The Biffenator

And alot of daily/worldly traveller' s are also alone!

"Therefore they need friendship/insight in this mobile type of world!

We use vBulletin here at Mobility. Mobile visitors see a small screen template and PC users see a big screen template. Works perfectly.

    Default xHTML only?

    Thanks for this quick answer.

Is it only xHTML? or does it manage WAP 2.0? who gets to manage the "mobilization" of the pages?

You will manage everything if it is your site. Mobility is xhtml, not sure if you can do WAP. Also you'll need a PHP/mysql server.

PHPBB3 is the best free forum script you will get

vBulletin is abviously excellent but pricey

MyBB and SMF are also good but arent much customizable and lack some essential features
    Demo : free forum

SMF is 5/5 on ready.mobi out of the gate but a lot of people complain about it. Open source usually means "time consuming."

I know modifications were needed to make mobility 5/5 with vBulletin, and of course, the price puts it out of reach for shoestring budgets.
