HolidayInn.mobi linked to a mobile site for me on an iphone. I can see why they need a .mobi, the mobile landing page...

They are all live and being used, some stand alone, some redirects. I have no idea about advertising, but let's not raise the bar too high. I think usage is a good enough benchmark... meaning traffic...
