Default I am working on my first mobile site and I have run into an issue I have not been able to resolve.

I am working on my first mobile site and I have run into an issue I have not been able to resolve.

If I set the body of my page to have a width of 200px, using my HTC EVO the text on the page will wrap at 200 pixels, but the ability to scroll horizontally still exists. I have tried putting the text within a div with a width of 200px as well and I observe the same behavior.

If I visit hotmail.com with the EVO, there is no horizontal scrolling. The code on hotmail.com is sufficiently obfuscated that I can't understand what they are doing that prevents horizontal scrolling. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to achieve this.

Try this one. Your site will respond to any screen width. BTW, welcome.

Using JQuery Mobile then you do not need to set body width.

Chinamobi thanks for posting. If you use "user-scalable=" then does that mean the user is unable to zoom in?

It's used for lazy users like me and millions of consumers who hate zooming in and out. So, the answer is NO zooming.

Oh. Well I like being able to zoom in and out. I bet people who can't see the font feel that way too. But, it's good to know there are options for developers.
