Interesting wording here - the press release says they have launched a mobi site but then gives just this address:

I am starting to see and hear this more often. People start talking about mobile sites as Mobi-Sites whether they reside at .mobi or not.

A bit of the same as when people spoke of the .com era when refering to the Internet maturing ..

One could see this as good or bad. I see as good as more and more people will become familiar with the term "mobi-site" and maybe more people will then "expect" that site to end with the .mobi extension.

Maybe we will also talk of the DOT MOBI ERA soon....

SAA.mobi is a Premium Domain still in mTLD's hands.

Considering the popularity of .mobi, mTLD should contact South African Airways and give them the option to RFP it so that they have a genuine "mobi site".

I've also noticed a growing use of the term "mobi site" for mobile sites, and I think that can only help the .mobi branding. One of the first criticisms of .mobi was how unusual or awkward the 4-letter name was, and now it seems like it is starting to gain acceptance, which can only help.

    Bingo

I keep hearing people calling their mobiles Mobi's and as you say, the more people say mobi the more .mobi will succeed i believe.

Cant comment on the rest of the world - but in South Africa the concept of the Mobile Website is still so new that people are having a hard time getting their heads around the concept. "but I already have a website - why do I need a Mobile site too ?" seems to be the common trend...
