    Default How much traffic?

    Hey guys,

As some of you know- I'm pretty new to the .mobi industry. I'm not going to be a domainer like most of you and develop a million sites- maybe just one or two really good ones and work on them.

Quick question though- how much traffic do you actually get? How well do the ad networks/affiliates pay out?

I'm just curious. Obviously the big .mobi search engines (which are...?) don't send anything like Google does everyday, so I'm just kind of curious

    Thanks
    Mike

Since its launch in mid april Zem got 970 Uniques, 2,073 visitors and 68,000+ hits. (this is only a 45 day period) Many thanks to AKC one of our mobility members.

I only did a $10 admob advertisment too. I think its more in the content that will drive the traffic to seo. I mean Zem is no prize winner for OVT and before only had about 2,000,000 page results. But it goes to show you what development can do.

I just think the mobile search engines are buidling up there stuff now for relevent content and such for the mobile web.

My other sites don't do as well, but they hold there ground averageing around 50 visitors a day. For example iPad, gets around 50 visitors a day and gets about 2-3 new user log ins a day for the free version.

Hope this helps, and welcome again to mobility.

    Biff

    Thanks for the reply Biffenator!

I see. That's a little bit more than I thought, so happy about that. Hopefully someone will pick me up on an offer and I can really open up the .mobi floodgates with the .mobi version of my website

    Thanks

hi whomp .. those stats are from 4 mobi sites that i tried to sell 3 months ago for 65 dollars a piece.

BTW no one made an offer so it goes to show just how little people know about mobile internet and what people are searching for.
Todays price for the 4 sites 15K.

    Hi Rob

Did you not get my PM? I sent you $65 for each of those sites a while back ;-)

    (ok, I lied!)

Would you be happy to share what sites they are? (here or PM)... I'm looking for inspiration!

Wow... Rob, I am impressed but not so much at the sites (which clearly have type in traffic) or the content (which is generic; adapted for the purpose) but I very impressed that you have been able to successfully monetize the sites?
Do you have any TM issues with fan sites? because my understanding was that if you monetize a fan site - it ceases to be a genuine fan site (in it's legal sense) and you run the risk of being accused of using a band / celeb name in order to create income..

I am pleased that the sites are simple & not the result of 100's & 100's of hours development work; this makes your monetization of the sites even more impressive..

How have you done it? I'd be very interested to know (by PM if you choose).... given the state of the economy I'm having to look for ways of creating a few income streams...

    hi noonoo,

The stats are from 4 sites. if you figure that 65% of all mobile searches are for porn 25% for mp3's 10% for everything else it isnt hard to figure out what people are looking for.
The reason my sites do well is because 99% of my traffic is from usa via jumptap.com thus paying min 10 cents a click
I entered my sites in there index about a year ago and bingo i hit pay dirt

    Wow, Truly Amazing Stats,
The odd thing is that I find the folks here in the US do less clicks then other places but that is from the US only admob .10 ads.
I will have to check out that site you referred to .

Thanks for sharing - that's a really high CPM for admob, especially for US traffic. How are you placing the admob units to get that level of CPM?

    Hi Rob

When I looked at your sites (on my desktop) I wasn't seeing any ads.. is there a way to view the 'live site' without a mobile device?

    Gary

p.s. have you used BoxedArt mobi templates? I'm looking for a generic template to build out some sites & Coast has a link on her blog... I just wondered if there are many other templates out there that allow for full personalisation (including the header & footer) so I can 'brand' my site development....

Gerry, I think Rob is saying that he has developed his sites as 'forum sites' using his own template & that they score 5/5 on ready.mobi

    I think? ;-)

Hi Gerry, I think this is what your looking for here. This is a simple (wap) mobile forum script licensed under Share Alike Creative Commons License. I can only offer it as free so thats what im doing. This script scored a 3/5 before i started and now after 12 hours of coding it scores 5/5 at ready.mobi http://shania.mobi/wap/mobile_forum.zip ive included a tutorial http://shania.mobi/wap/forum-tutorial/

If you have any problem with the script. Please post in the thread so i can help you solve it, and for the benefit of others.

I will post 20 other free templates ive made later this weekend.

    Cheers

There is a very useful Firefox plugin called user agent switcher. You can see the actual results of a site for a given handset. Not as good as a real emulator but good enough.

the links are there on the front page of each site. "Cool Mobile Sites" i believe is the wording. when you click to see the ads you need to use the emulator like veronique says

    Veronique
is it possible to require people to register to this forum example?
Also is it possible that I could purchase the code for your .mobi website?
    my domain is rollerrace.mobi
I would like to be able to have a gallery for photos to upload as well.
Anyone have a good working example .mobi website?
