Dear members,

Mobility.mobi was down today for a couple of hours due to a SQL database problem with our host, HostGator.com. Sorry about this down time.

To put it bluntly, HostGator.com sucks. So we're going to be switching to a more reliable web host provider so that this does not happen again. The main one I'm considering is Sitelutions.com (http://www.Sitelutions.com). I've used them before and they are very reliable. It's the hosting provider used by the milliondollarhomepage.com, which even survived getting over 200,000 visitors in one day during the peak of the frenzy.

I just want to confirm with Sitelutions that they will help transfer the site to their servers since I have no clue how to do that. There will obviously be some down time during this transition, but I'll let you guys know well in advance so you can prepare for it.

Cheers,
Andres

does hostgator have these problems often Andres?Too often for my taste. And I don't like the fact that they only do weekly backups. In a worst case scenario, we would lose over 1,000 posts if there servers ever had a serious crash.

Enough playing Russian Roulette. Mobility is no longer a baby. It's time to upgrade to a good web host.

Yikes! After a quick glance it doesn't appear anything was lost.
