Steal em...
Actually, if I can find the sites I will list them.
There are a couple sites that are incredible.
But one very reasonably priced set that is available at most place like BestBuy, Office Depot, Staples etc. is The Big Box Of Art 1 Million Images produced by www.hemera.com. 16 CD set, searchable index, but sometimes a pain to keep switching discs but fortunately most "like" or similar images per subject are on the same disc. You'll see little thumbnails of each and then make your selection. Easily export to your graphics program and be do your magic.
This can usually be found on sale for under 20 bucks on occassion. You may want to check Amazon...$25.00 plus orders are no shipping fees, no sales tax so what cha gonna lose?

iStockPhoto.com (http://iStockPhoto.com), most images cost a couple of bucks, for professional quality.

This is a decent list to start your search. You will see some are of better quality than others.
FREE is good!
Unfortunately there is one that I have lost the link. I used it extensively and it was unbelievable rich in content and superior quality. I remember it was a link on a template guide. There were thousands and thousands available, all topics listed on right side bar, mostly oriental in nature. If someone comes across this, PM me.
Perhaps this should be a sticky???

Watch your copyrights, everyone. Not too long ago I saw posts on other forums that certain photo houses were sending spiders to search sites for their stock photos, then sending them the bill without so much as a cease and desist letter.
If you do a web search for "creative commons license" you may find something free that is "some rights reserved" instead of "all rights reserved." If you want to follow the intellectual property rules, make sure that the photos you choose are ok for commercial use. Some of the ones Gerry listed are public domain sites (great list, Gerry!), but even there you want to read the license agreements or terms of service on the site.
Istockphoto.com is allowed for commercial use, but if you sell your site the new owner must re-register the images according to the istockphoto customer service department (although I don't know how they'll enforce that.)
Just my 2 cents.

There are many free photo API services out there that also allow you to place them on commercial sites.
For mobile development, our 1plus techs have been playing about with this:

You can also make your "badge" contextual and based on keyword.. :)
Flickr.com also offer a regular free photo API service..

I think what ezinaz meant was iStockphoto.com -- by far the best, cheapest place to find images for practically any use. I'm a graphic designer in real life, and I've been able to find nearly everything I need there, without having to pay the prices of a typical stock photo house. And even better, there's no need to worry about royalties...
As for the software package Gerry mentioned, I'm sure you must be able to find a DVD version now, which would eliminate having to swap discs in and out.
Thanks for the above listed links and info. Mods, please make this a sticky. Thanks. :top:

Amazing resource....Thanks to all...:)
Question:
I checked out iStockPhoto.com, in particular - For photos suitable for .mobi websites, would downloading the XSmall size of photos be appropriate?...Would they need to be re-sized further?...If so, what size is best for a .mobi site (with download speed on mobile devices in mind)?
Also, the word 'iStockPhoto' appears across the pics....Does that disappear on a download? Or, how could it be removed for site use?
.

Yes, I find that the smallest size is fine for on-screen display, unless you need it to fill a very large space. And yes, once you download the images, there's no more watermark on them. That's just so that they can show you the image without as much concern about you right-clicking and saving it for free without paying the credits.

Cool way to find commercially usable photos & images quick.

But, the nagging question that I have in my mind is when you do below..
What does "Attribute this work" mean?
The page you came from contained embedded licensing metadata, including how the creator wishes to be attributed for re-use. You can use the HTML here to cite the work. Doing so will also include metadata on your page so that others can find the original work as well.
Would this have any negative impact on your site from scoring 5/5?
Flickr has xtra small images for use available.
