here is a list of all the Abbreviations, Acronyms and Definitions i have encountered and their meaning. everybody feel free to add to this list at any time






AKA - Also Known As

CCC - 3 charactered domain name.

CTR - Click Thru Ratio

CVCV - Consonant Vowel Consonant Vowel The C is consonant, the L is letter, and the V is vowel (aka LVLV)

DOMAINER - Domainers are individuals whose profession is the accumulation and dealing of generic internet domain names. Although controversially compared to cybersquatters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybersquatters) and ticket scalpers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticket_scalping), Domainers claim to differentiate and legitimize themselves by avoiding trademarked names and potentially contentious domain names, and refraining from typosquatting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typosquatting). END USER - Someone who purchases a domain name and takes it live on the web vs. a reseller (another domainer) who purchases the domain to also sell and market it.

FYI - For Your Information. (its sounds as if the person saying it is being ***ensive, but this is rarely the case)

GEM - A term often referred to a domain that is thought of being a "gem" of a name, in other words great value as a domain and potential web site. Actually, a matter of opinion in most cases. Synonomous sometime with "premium" or "primo" example.... "i just REGGED a GEM"!!

GEO - Short for geographical, such as a city name or a country name, etc examples Buffalo, Prag , Los Angeles , New York City

GL - Good Luck

Others you will commonly come across are

CVCV or LVLV (or other variations thereof)

The C is consonant, the L is letter, and the V is vowel.

To further confuse you, I have seen some use the C to represent Character which means a character can be a number or a letter; or a letter or a vowel.

So, when I see CCC I really have to wonder what it is they are looking for.

To me the most appropriate (and one that most domain search software uses) are L for letter, N for number, and V for vowel. None that I have at my disposal even uses the letter C so I am not sure who, what, or when that started.

All of this is a swell idea.

I need a site that I can refer people to for learning about domaining in general. The thread and post by Andres is wonderful regrading a "What is .mobi" for newbies.

If anyone know of a site that starts at the very basics of domaining and how to build a web site, PM me a link. If you want to create such a site, that would be great. This info would be put on a specialty site wih more than 285,000 users already this year (CEUQ.com). Not self promoting. But I would promote mobi (see left menu, TIPS AND TRIPS, DIRECTORIES) I need to clean this up and add many more and change some logos.

But look right under TIPS and TRIPS...BUILD A WEB. I have had numerous people express an interest in starting their own site, blog, etc. I have had no time to devote to this section.

So if you want to be a budding author or know links, I would be glad to feature your expertise...AND YOUR SITE if you have one in mind or have one to fit this interest.

Looks like another thead so I'll stop at this point.

ok i will get on that. unfortunitaly, i am not on the internet very often and my cell phone doesnt have internet :( . for example, i am late for work right now because of me not expecting to have to make this post :embarassed:. i'll tell yall this, i will do everything i can to help anyone of this site or NP's. the info that i have taken in from these 2 sites so far has helped me very much. it also has given me the confidence i needed and the assurance that the .mobi market will be a huge success. i very very much want to be a part of this success together with all of you on both sites and anything i can do to help i will do so. and thanks again guys :adore: :adore: :adore: peace WAZ

Hey, just killed a baby copperhead in my backyard. Right on the back porch.

It was perhaps 3 feet long and perhaps as big around as my arm. If I can find pictures in my files of it I'll post it...combined about 4 images on one sheet and posted it at work. Because that is exactly what I was doing. I was taking pictures of it. Big beautiful snake with gorgeous pattern and coloration. I had never seen anything like it. All coiled up in a nice big fat coil. Just laying there looking at me.

Wife asked what I was taking pictures of. I told her and showed her. SHE FREAKED OUT AND STARTED SCREAMING "COPPERHEAD! COPPERHEAD!" I told her she was crazy cause it didn't have no copper head. She went flying to the house yelling and screaming like a little girl.

I went and got on the internet and googled it. Guess what? She was right. The copper coloration is along their neck behind their jaw.

It is now an ex-copperhead.

Then there was the black racer that came flying at me through the air striking out at me from about 15 feet away. The only reason it did not get me is it hit the bird netting I had over the blueberry bushes and got tangled in it. He may have actually been eating the blueberries or stalking birds. Either way, I think I might have went running back to the house screaming like a little girl when I caught this thing out of the corner of my eye coming at me and hitting that net.

NEW ABBREVIATIONS:
BFS-Big F***ing Snake
BFR-Big F***ing Rock to kill the BFS

We have rattlers here also, commonly referred to timber rattlers. There is a state park not too far from here (Hanging Rock...great kayaking and arrowhead hunting) where they have about 2 dozen of an unknown quantity with implanted radio chips for tracking.

But I am not sure if I am more worried about the rattlers, copperheads, water moccasins encountered on the river and rocks or the bears.

i was considering putting up a post saying that anyone can put up there nickname and i will add it to the list. i also was going to add Gerry to it then imagine that it might clutter the list with less important info. does anyone else have an opinion on that? actually now today i have a different feeling towards this. i think it would be a good idea:biggrin: so the title will now read Abbreviations, Acronyms Definitions and Nicknames .

How do i see the traffic to a domain name?Yup, the former artist/****** aka circa1850. I was called a ****** when the reality is (from my perspective) it was not so much a ****** as it was putting out or stomping out the "flamers", which perhaps should also go into this list.

I am honored that SKEDADDLES made the list.

In reality, I guess some things should be edited, cleaned up and perhaps included in a newbie section. A comprehensive list like this is long overdue and needed and glad to see active participation. Now I can include links or just refer people to this site.

Still trying to find more of those little rascal copperheads. Once they hatch, they are gone. Hate like hell them being around. Actually, not so much "thinking" but seeing them around. Can think about them all I want and that is not going to bother me. Stepping on em? Yeah, that might bother me.

He does it because he cares about the future of mobi, same reason I spend all the time I do here as well. Maybe there will be some ads in the future to help pay for things but the point here is to have an environment where we can help facilitate the advancement of this new tld without being told we are a bunch of idiots every other day as was happening in other domain forums.

If you look in the top bar of a post you will see this image. http://mobility.mobi/images/buttons/reputation.gif Click it to give someone a positive rating for a good post. Negative rating is something you want to avoid using unless someone has said something really bad, hostile or defamatory.
