View Full Version : Mobisitegalore Forum in the Dumps
I have been actively trying to get some more work done on a few mobile sites and was just over at their so-called forum that represents Mtld.
Disappointing would be an understatement.
Seems they have all but let this forum go and don't even regularly monitor it for people looking for answers. If they are just going to let it go and get clogged with a bunch of spam, why don't they just close it down because it gives a VERY BAD Impression.
My teenage son was just standing behind me waiting for the bus when I clicked on one of the links and out pops a full page of nude pics. Mind you, he didn't seem to care, but just not the kind of information I was looking for.
I would imagine anybody just trying to learn about Mtld and their building tools for the first time would have a much harsher impression. This isn't just an isolated case but the entire forum seems to have been overtaken by this smut.
A few of the "current" relative threads started seem to be some serious problems from people trying to build sites, and the admin (when he finally gets around to it) doesn't seem to be much help in most cases or completely ignores some requests.
Anyway, enough bitching for one morning, but it clearly makes me think different on Mtds "real" motives if they can't even keep their own forum clean and give decent answers to those looking for help.

Mobisitegalore or mTLD? 2 different entities. Do you have a link?

He is talking about Mobisitegalore. Here is the link:
http://forums.mobisitegalore.com/viewforum.php?f=2
And he is right...very worrying...the forum is not being controlled and is going to the dumps. Lot's of sex clips and stuff. Very bad for .mobi image as Mtld clearly underwrites and supports Mobisitegalore. Cant understand why mobisitegalore is allowing this to happen
I have sent the owners of the site an e-mail about this.

mTLD does not underwrite mobisitegalore, which is owned by Akmin. I agree that a support forum not well maintained does not reflect well on the company running it, in this case the company is Akmin.

I have had some success at getting answers there. It doesn't happen right away, but I do get responses and answers.
I have no idea how many people work there, but they certainly can use more time "cleaning up" their porn spam that seems to clutter things up.
I'll put things to the test. I've got to post a new question today myself. I'll update everyone on how long it takes to get a response (and how helpful it is)
These guys have come out with an amazing tool for people like myself. The new version certainly seems to have some bugs and my hope is they're spending the majority of time fixing these.

Hi Fred,
Thank you for bring this to our notice, we are trying to keep the forum clean,
by deleting junk

Thanks for getting them to respond so quick Binary, but it looks like they left some of the trash on the floor when they were cleaning up.
One more quick pass through should do the job :)
Hopefully they can get it all this time. Just not good business.

Good news / Bad news on this
Good news is ....the porn is gone...at least for now....
Bad news ...no response yet from post over 24 hrs ago. This might not seem like a big deal, but in this instance, it is.
Yesterday, I received an email from an FBI press release giving out a new 1-800 tip line should anyone spot Cesar Laurean (the wanted Marine the entire country is looking for.).
I made a special page for this info and when I updated it, the site stopped resolving. As of this writing, it's still not up. This is a terrible glitch in 3.0 if you've added any of their "Goodies". Now, it seems when you update, it takes 8-12 hours to resolve as opposed to immediate with the old system.
I also emailed their support regarding this issue and haven't heard back yet. My plan was to contact the FBI public affairs division on the press release to let them know about my site, but I can't do that until the site returns to being live. Not only is this bad for my site, it's not helping mobisitegalore either. Their name is plastered all over my site and you'd think the recognition would be welcome. Very frustrating situation. This site could help catch this guy. I mean, even an obligatory "we're looking at it" type of response would be nice. But NOTHING! :frown:
Oh well...just have to wait...

Got a-hold of mobisitegalore
The guy on the phone checked what he could and sent the issue to support. Again, I'll inform you with responses (and how long they take)
Sorry to say (as mentioned above) there is still porn on the site that apparently didn't get taken off yesterday in the "standards compliance section"
I talked with a guy there for quite awhile yesterday and filled me in on a lot of good information. He even gave me access directly to the tech dept through his account and was able to at least get a response from them in 13 minutes going this route.
On a high note, he's setting me up with a private label account with them that I will make available to ALL mobility members who want to also use it. The main benefits for using this instead of the regular mobisite builder is it will not have their logo on the bottom of your pages and we will have direct access to the tech dept and bypass several channels on getting problems resolved.
It comes complete with a back office and can add another logo in place of the mobisite logo that displays on all sites made with it.
Maybe a mobility.mobi logo instead?
If there is enough interest here, I would be glad to set it up for this community which should greatly increase visitors here and hopefully people can find the answers alot faster then through the channels at their forum.

So....you're saying a 1/2 naked Jessica Alba post just might be a porn link...Hummm :dontknow: Sounds like a legit mobile web compliance issue to me...:rolleyes2:. Now Jessica Alba fully nude? That's art....not porn....:embarassed: :coo2l:

Sounds very interesting. I'm wondering if this will also help in Google search results. I've found Google doesn't treat the regular mobisitegalore sites well, but Yahoo does much better.

In fact, if people are interested, and you achieve this, I will Rep you to the moon. :)
On another note, would there be any interest in having Mobility host the support forum for Akmin (and other mobile companies) under a new special category here so that you all have everything mobile-related in one place? This is an option I've been exploring with the moderators thanks to this thread, so let me know if there is any interest and I'll create a new thread in the Feedback section to discuss it further.

Got a response from the forum this morning at 6:56AM EST
We have added the Adsense code in the "FBI Featured Fugitive" page and published it, the code is working fine. Please check the same.
Regards,
Support Team.Unfortunately, this was not the problem. I had already added the code and published it. Still no ads. But none of my sites show adsense ads. They only did for 1 day. The first day after I installed the code. Then they just vanished! :hmmmm2:
My main problem (the site not resolving after updating) has been ignored to this stage.
I also received an email from support at 12:58 AM regarding my problem. The email response advised me to join the support forum and post my issue...:argh:
I emailed them back this AM with this:
I am a member of the forum and this was posted a couple of days ago. It did not get a response for over a day and a half and since my site, which I'm trying to promote to the FBI now was not resolving (and in need of regular updates), I thought this route might get a more timely answer.
I even called the support number and was told this problem would be forwarded to the correct team. I did get a response this morning (about 1/2 hour ago) on the forum, but the response is nothing new. The site in question, just like all of the sites I've added adsense on, still don't show ads and haven't for about 2 weeks.
My MAIN issue is the down time I get now whenever I update a site. I addressed this in my forum post also but it was ignored. The site goes down and does not resolve for the rest of the day. I updated the fbi site yesterday morning and the site was still down at 11`:30 PM. It was live this morning when I got up to check, but as stated on the forum, many of my sites need updated regularly. This main site fbimostwanted.mobi is something I'm trying to promote to the FBI so it can get national attention. There just happens to be a major man-hunt in the nation for the featured fugitive and this site would be very helpful, yet it's not working right.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark I'm not too sure if they just skim through the problems or just tend to answer the part they can and ignore the rest, but the initial response I got back was:
Hi Mark,
Adding AdSense code has no connection to a site being available or not. At worst, it may not show or can throw up an error if your web server doesn't support the AdSense code properly. Hence we will not be able to do anything in this regard. You may contact your web host for any further help in this regard.
By the way, we are able to see the fbimostwanted.mobi site. Have a look at the screen shot.
regards,
Support TeamMy reply:
Thank your for your prompt response. I believe there is a misunderstanding about the issue at hand. I saw this morning before I responded that the site was up. The problem was, it was down for an extended amount of time. This happens every time I update the site. It's fine now, but if I update it and publish, it doesn't resolve until 8, 10...15 hours later. And when it does....still no adsense ads are showing (nor have they except for the first day I added them...then they just vanished). I'm not saying that adding adsense does this. It just never happened before I added this new Goodie. Up until then, like all of my other mobisitegalore sites, there was no problem in updating. Now, every site I've added this to is doing the same thing. Updates are causing long delays in the site(s) being down. My hosting, Hostgator, has no problems with adsense code I have on non mobisitegalore sites.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any additional info to help solve this problem.
Thanks again!
MarkIt's frustrating that it seems as if they're ignoring my main problem.
Hopefully we'll have some answers soon! At least they're semi- listening and emailing me back. I'll keep this thread updated as things progress.

A little update on the progress of the support forum issue. Still no answers or responses have been given, although I've posted a couple on unanswered posts myself. I think these guys need to spend a little time at least acknowledging questions regularly. Merely ignoring requests for help is only irritating many, IMHO. I did receive an email back from support today, but the problem at hand was not resolved. They just told me they did the same thing I did and basically got the same result. No site resolution after publishing. :argh:
After several more phone calls and trying many things out on my end, it seems the main problem I've been having may have been found. Not fixed yet, but at least, I think we're on the right track.
Mobisitegalore told me it was a host issue. I called their support and went over what was happening. My site was up in 1 minute. I went back and played around, edited it and published again....down again. I did this 2 more times to confirm, then called mobisitegalore with the results. Hostgator told me it seems to be a editor issue. Every time I edit the site, the editor changes he permission somehow :dontknow:. Hopefully the support team will get on this and fix it soon. The phone "support" is more like a "I'll take this info and make sure the support team gets it" type of support. Real nice...just couldn't do much though....
Bottom line is, hopefully a fix is near.
But again, as the OP stated..their support forum is really going downhill. They need to pick up the pace for those of us who rely on it.
