Seems to me the appraisal section is kind of haphazard and lacking a quality input as to the whole perspective of .mobi. Many clarify and put the huge scope into perspective but i feel a sticky thread with input as to valuing.mobi for me and for you and all .mobi, would get some uniformity in our understanding and view.(who's to say whats what and worth in .mobi if it isnt us) We, i believe, need to get this right, as i know LOTTA LOTTA people see (.mobi) IT. I hope we can have an informative group bringing to the (rounder) (lol) table our names, and why you believe your name or their name is worth (inset value) and people can give their humble opinions.(it will be good for us to see others pespective on why and how much) Others may know more and say WHOA, hold on, that name is potentially worth this, think of the market when you link it in with your other names( and with other people) etc and we all start effectively affiliating.mobi etc I think we all are doing so well here. I think imho the adult .mobi web serves its purpose, its not for me dispite one xxxthumbs.mobi to biff...so i will get forumchat.mobi up and as said, not yet discussed with Andres, have the opposite to this site, where by perhaps the lounge goes there from here, and the ! thread on .mobi there goes here( i believe it could greatly enhance mobility and bring in more people... all profit when sold as i mentioned in the wrong places will go to Andres trade name project( AN AWESOME INITUITIVE... Andres, usually reads this thread so, please reply here, or pm if u like. Either way. You may have missed my offer before,of eventually selling forumchat and making it the $1,000,000 name shared by all, if we voted that way as by then, we may well all have more than enough and keep IT rolling in) as another great thing would be a Trade and enhance your portfolio Sticky....trades made, affiliations strengthened to people who will develop as its a nieche or neiche..bettering .mobi anyway, nuff said....i just think thats important enough to get sticky with IT.Anyway, nuff said :driver::heeeelllllooooo::five::trytofly:  :saint: :alberteinstein::withstupid: :banghead: :motz: 08 will be great, 09 will fineAccurate appraisals are virtually impossible MM, so a set of instructions to help people get there would be similarly difficult. The only value that means anything is the one decided between a buyer and seller or the value determined in an auction. I've seen names sell for amounts far higher and lower than I felt they were worth. Guess what, I was wrong. They sold for the right amount in the given situation. Tools like Estibot are trying to be appraisal engines, measuring certain metrics. If that is the type of information you are looking for then I would recommend using it. But it is still just a guess, offering no measure of end user needs or current events.

The extension is new, the market is liquid, there are no experts yet in the mobile domaining industry, and most of the Internet domaining "experts" of yesterday have proved to be clueless about the new environment
There are important issues affecting this "industry" in the months/years ahead: taxation, economic crisis, availability of credit, laws regarding certain activities like porn or gambling... All these affect the value of domain names
There is uncertainty regarding general adoption of this extension
Even if there is massive adoption of this extension (many of us bet on this) we don't know when that will happen, nor the speed of its penetration in different countries
There are a few key players in the market, that, acting as buyers during auctions, can greatly increase the prices paid for domains
There is a current lack of developers offering their services at rates that domain owners are willing to pay
There are important uncertainties regarding the legal rights of owners to keep domains parked in the future (read between the lines in Rick Schwartz last posts. That's what they're afraid of. Learn about Cadna)
The main auction company in this space has had important technical problems that do not seem to have been resolved yet
There are rumors of fake bidding in live auctions
There is a total lack of consensus regarding the value of domain names based on their number of words, industries, or any other standard that you could use as a reference point
There is a highly speculative market, populated with many novice investors, with access to different levels of funding, many of whom buy names behind company names...and finally...
There are many of these investors buying all sorts of names (hypen, no hypens, one word, two words, industries, trends, typos, geos) based on "potential"All these factors -and more- affect the values of domain names.
Basically, and from any standard-measure point of view, there is no way to assess the value of a domain name today, particularly in the mobile space.

If I ask my mother I could have the same quality of information that I would get if I post a name for appraisal here.

Domaining, particularly in .mobi today, is like the lottery. Anyone that tells you differently is lying, or just does not understand the full complexity of this business activity.
(remember that past performance is not indicative of future returns)

The best thing you can do now MrMobi, when buying or selling, is to follow your instincts, and pray.

i agree with all those things, i just thought .mobi sold 3 letter ext faster than any other, its global ext, it crashed sedo...the things Javier said and the like is the factors and things we should be discussing and the opinions of why and why not people think their names are worth a minimum $$$...its ok, just figure someone has to WAKE UP and start to set the standard. If not us dicussing IT, who. Im outta here.
