Some stats to share for those developing

Good Saturday morning to everyone.

As I've mentioned many times before, my belief in the success of my names lies strongly on how they preform on search engines.

With this in mind, I have started to chart the performance on both Google and Yahoo. I plan on updating this monthly. I've noticed that my mobisitegalore names do not bode well at all at Google. Not many in the top 10 pages (10 results). This has been reported to mobisitegalore and I hope a change is on the way to make them more "google-bot friendly"

Yahoo, on the other hand sees them differently. They are doing quite well there, but it seems to take 3-4 months before they gain any steam.

So, for those who are interested, I'll post my search results (taken on Dec 27, 2007)

As you can see, results are all over the board. Most of the older ones are doing quite well. Some, obviously need some "tweaking". I did not expect much from the newer ones, as they seem to get closer to page 1 as the months go by. The good news is, none have fallen. It's been fun watching them rise and seeing some dot mobi sites on page 1 of results!

Interesting to see things all over the board. The majority are going up slowly, while some are heading down. The funny thing is how one will go up in Google and down in Yahoo in the same month. Overall, I'm pretty happy though! :smile:

Made my Feb update today on my SE result tracking. Just changed last months results to current, using colors to rack the difference.

I also tried something different this month. I've added some search terms I'm hoping will be popular in the future. Hypothetically, if and when .mobi becomes the trustmark we are all hoping it will, I'm thinking many searches will be done using keyword + mobi to find a compliant mobile site. Just a gut feeling, but since I had everything else in place, thought it would be fun to see where my sites stood in keywords associated with my site + mobi added on. Very pleased with the results (in blue) Lot's of #1's in nice keywords! :smile:

Numbers in red went down this month. Numbers in green went up. Numbers in black stayed the same as last month and blue where new search terms added this month.

These numbers are showing me how and when to tweak my sites for better performance. Hopefully, they'll help others somehow as well.

Very interesting to note the sometimes extremely high differential in Google vs Yahoo results of same terms. I can't find a particular reason why sometimes the search terms are close, while other times, they're in a different stratosphere. :dontknow: I expect differences, but a site such as evacuations not being listed in the first 100 google results while Yahoo has it #1 :hmmmm2:
Grabbing a double #1 (page 1) listing on both seems to be extremely difficult, no matter the search term. Out of all of the search terms I entered, I accomplished this only 3 times during this experiment. Not popular as of yet...but hoping the future will prove me right...

The numbers continue:

Been awhile since I've updated these stats. Interesting to see the results!
Very pleased to see a lot more GREEN than RED

Several new #1 spots for mobi sites (I did not count sponsored results)

Google is still not treating my mobisitegalore sites anywhere near the same as Yahoo. Interesting to even see sites such as evacuations is #1 in Yahoo, but not in the top 100 in Google.

All in all, a pretty good showing. My traffic results certainly are in line with SE placement.

It's also good to see mostly #1's when adding mobi to a search. This will come into play in the future when mobi becomes more recognized by the masses. Grabbing #1 for "Pizza mobi" in Yahoo & Google and #2 for "weather mobi" (#9 in Google) is quite cool :coo2l:

Been awhile since I updated my SE results for my mobi’s

Some went up, others went down. Found some mistakes on my end as to why the downturn on some happened. I tend to forget to update my “extra” info on my MSG sites when I make updates which adversely effects my ranking.

All in all, I’m very pleased. The biggest thing has been positive gain in Google from previous months. They’re finally starting to do better. It seems that Google tends to weigh age of site higher, so get those sites indexed!
