Interesting news from the DNJournal.com Lowdown. I love what they say about Mobi and other TLDs:

From the article:

New PIR CEO Alexa A.S. Raad
Alexa A.S. Raad will become CEO of the Public Interest Registry (PIR) (http://www.pir.org/), operators of the .org registry, effective Monday (July 9). Ms. Raad comes to PIR from the dotMobi Registry where she was the Chief Marketing Officer handling areas that included marketing and public relations, product development and rollout and policy. In our opinion the marketing of dotMobi since its debut last fall has been masterful and will undoubtedly serve as a model for other new TLD launches. PIR board chair Susan Estrada said, "We believe Alexa's passion, along with her unique business savvy, will make it possible for PIR to increase the registry business and ensure continued funding of the Internet Society (http://pir.org/InternetSociety/InternetSociety.aspx). We are thrilled to welcome Alexa to our staff and look forward to her leadership."
Ms. Raad has Masters Degrees in both Business Administration and Information Systems from George Washington University and speaks Farsi, German, French, and Italian - skills that will serve her well as CEO of the popular .org global TLD that is used primarily by non-profit organizations.

Hell she did'nt stay with .Mobi very long did she? Hope it's not a case of rats leaving a sinking ship. Before she moved to .Mobi she had a 5 year stint at the company she worked for then.

I think it is more of a case of Dot Org deciding to take an agressive stance on promoting their TLD and brand. I went to the Traffic domain convention in Las Vegas in March and just by chance met a representative of PIR on the escalators that was trying to understand how to get more usage of the Dot Org TLD. I was very surprised that he was interested in growing the Dot Org TLD but forgot about the meeting until I read this. My guess is Dot Org might become a TLD to watch as well ;)

That's my read too. dotOrg wants the success that she brought dotMobi - no doubt...

It's a loss for the mobi brand. I hope she had a great support staff or understudy.

She was the Chief Marketing Officer at dot mobi, and that may well have been as far up the ladder as she figured she would ever get, in that organization. This new position with dot org is CEO....she gets to be top dog....run the show. It is a common move in corporate America and is more likely to be an indication of her own aspirations then it is any reflection on the prospects of dot mobi.
You frequently see stories in the WS Journal of high ranking lieutenants leaving stellar companies because they are able to land the top job elsewhere....even if the new company isnt quite as big or successful as the company they are leaving.
