I echo your curiosity Javier. Lots of names are registered by others that would not be of interest to me but I'm just one guy in the world and there are lots of other ways of doing things. I like to investigate others approaches, maybe I can learn something too.

Perhaps you misunderstand me. I have a forum friendship with both MrMobi and Yelo and have had the pleasure of following both of their posts for some time now. Both of these gentlemen are following spiritual paths and have said so publicly. They register names because it moves them forward on their paths, without regard to monetization. It was a sincere complement to both of them that I recognize this, and I think if you ask them they would acknowledge it as a complement and not a criticism.

If either of them were to ask me about monetization, I would refer them to the usual: wordtracker, estibot, etc. but that is not what they are about in most cases. I hope this clarifies my comments.

What do you mean by aberrant behavior? If someone has the funds and wants to put their message across in a manner in which they see fit, is that aberrant? Most of the people on other forums consider anyone who purchases a .mobi name to have aberrant behavior.

If a new domainer were to ask me what I thought of a name, I would not attempt to register it although other people might. Additionally, I would go through a checklist of what a domain name should have to be successful, including searches, a plan for development, a plan for monetization, etc. I would not lie and say I thought a name had potential if I thought it did not. I would not get excited about a UK spelling of a name intended for a U.S. audience for my amusement.

However, if I had an understanding that another person had goals that were not strictly for monetization purposes, does that mean that if he were to be happy doing something for the sake of doing it and not for making money that it is wrong, and aberrant?

You may be familiar with David Ogilvy from the advertising world. He said " In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative, original thinker unless you can also sell what you create." This assumes that what you are creating is for a business purpose in my opinion. He also said "Develop your eccentricities while you are young. well to answer a few questions....to develop a name like implementing.mobi i first might look at what the .com does...i didn't, till just then and my thoughts were confirmed as to what a site with a name like that might be about(only takes money and a developer, along with an idea)perhaps it could just be a blog site like this, equips.mobi could be the same, could have stuff there for people to equip them with tools to develop and so on....as far as do i check stats and monitor my sites and so on....no at present, i do well to wake up inthe morning...in my mind, all my names have a purpose and were bought with an idea....i intended to have a web in .mobi.....i am kinda dumbfounded when people cant see IT lol but hey, we arent all the same and my brain just works at a higher level than 95% of the worlds population....this may sound like im boasting or bragging but facts are facts....my family know it, my friends know it.....how u say...well we have had national IQ tests here in Australia....not to mention the 10 or more times ive taken IQ tests for jobs or online. ( i may seem a lil out there, thats cause i have been in chronic pain a decade, to explain this would take too long but to say ive been in 4 car wrecks in the previous 5 years) Its great though that not everyone see's things the way i do, more names for me....I'm thinking to offer 1 name a week from my portfolio to go to sedo every week next year, so .mobi will always be in the sales.(good for .mobi) Im sure once i explain next to my names what they are most people will understand. To be honest, I've never paid much attention to IQ tests- I've felt they are quite overrated, nonetheless I guess that in some circumstances they could be used to prove a point. :laugh:

Anyways, getting back on topic with mobi. When I saw implementing.mobi at first glance I immediately thought about an instructional guide in how to implement mobile code and possibly cgi scripting specific to mobile units (wurfl, etc). Perhaps, your site can provide an enhanced version of your website for computers/iPhones and a streamlined version for other mobile phones. Now while equips.mobi can be more of the same, it can alternatively be eQuips.mobi which can be about quotes, sarcastic remarks, or more interestingly about curiosities/oddities (chupacabra sightings, lochness, big foot, miracles, etc etc).

While I do agree with the idea of having a .mobi sale on sedo to keep it on the sales list, IMHO this will only be good if the sale of the domain is high. Also, IMO it is much more important to show that the domain extension has huge marketability and potential to stand on its own as a domain extension. I feel that this can only be accomplished through high .mobi domain sales, developed .mobi sites, and active promoting of the developed .mobi domains (our fellow .mobiers, as well as, our own). I personally am committed to making this happen and am now going to push much harder to accomplish these tasks.

Well, I can go on and on, but then this will be more of a sermon than a call for all of us to keep our momentum. ;)

So, lets keep on moving people because I know we are all working on building great things.

Thanks DBADT2007, now just to clarify, your not racegirlgotITbad T Tammy are ya now? lol must start bringing more friends here soon. Theres some great ideas and affirmations of my own thoughts and i feel greatful to have you here to confirm and add constructive incentive. I just was blessed to get submitting.mobi for $60 US...it goes with submits.mobi and i see what your saying about selling a domain a week and if the sales figures aren't high...i was surprised to aquire it at that price but then i was submitting and turned it over, surrendered it and didn't watch the ending auction...so its an exception...because i believe submitting.mobi to be quite a integral part and start to my web with submits.mobi. I most definately will be creating a start from there and i feel i can flow off that with many other avenues. Kind of stimulates my mind and vision of my web and brings IT together more for me....and .mobi essentially. I wonder if just having a link from there to emulates.mobi and then forwarding that to the emulator is good for .mobi...or should i have my own kind of emulator sumulating.mobi Well customizes.mobi and some others fall into the catagory above....guess these sites will come together slowly in the new year....guess im gunna have to take your advice and perhaps not sell a name weekly unless the starting bid is decent.
