Hi everyone,

I found that mobisitegalore does not work on a mac. I tried in Safari and Firefox, and was told by their tech support to use a pc instead. Are there any other sitebuilding programs I can use? I am rather new at this and don't have dreamweaver.

If you use a mac and want to see it supported by mobisitegalore, please respond here and I'll send them an email with a link to this thread. Thanks.

What problems were you having? I'm on a Mac, OSX 10.3.9 to be exact using the latest Firefox browser, and I used them fine before they upgraded their site. I haven't tried their new site out yet though.

I definitely want to see them support a Mac browser, any browser for that matter. It's the internet after all, it's not supposed to be OS specific. Man do I hate when tech support simply says just use a PC, like I'm going to go and buy a new computer to use your site. Get REAL!

If you ever read this Mobisitegalore, I love what your doing offering folks the ability to put together compliant .mobi sites. But a lot of web designers use Macs so if your service only works on a PC browser then you are shutting the door an a big portion of the web design world. Unfortunately, I now need to qualify my recommendation for people to use your site with the following; unless you use a Mac.

Are you saying if you have a Mac you can not build a site in MobiSiteGalore? Or is it a viewing issue?

If it is a site building issue, I know Macromedia (now Adobe) has Mac and Win products.

That may be one alternative.

It's not uncommon for developers to use code that is browser specific (usually for IE) and the site doesn't work the same under Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc. This wouldn't be the first time I've encountered it. My old bank was IE only with their online banking for a time.

Good news, it works again, but I had to create a new account. I am still unable to access my half-created site so I will start again.

Let that be a warning to you all (imagine that said with a thick French accent as I stand atop a castle throwing livestock over the wall): backup, backup, backup.

False alarm, see next post....

Here is the error message I got after entering my username and password using Firefox on a Mac:

"Sorry! Direct access to this page is not allowed! Please try accessing this page through the links available on your service provider's website. "

So, in other words, you can create an account but cannot login.

I tried it again using Safari, and got a message to switch to Firefox or another supported browser.

In other words, it absolutely does not work with a Mac. I would love to receive a PM from someone who knows the workaround.

I just heard back from support, and the problem is with the cookies. I changed my permission settings and it appears to work now. So, if you want to use mobisitebuilder make sure cookies are enabled. This sounds obvious, but if I missed it so can someone else, whether using a mac or a pc.

I'm thrilled to have this resource available once again.

That's good news coast, thanks for the follow up here.
