WiLDnet
n. An acronym for Wi-Fi Over Long-Distance Network. Bringing Internet access to developing nations, Wildnets relay Wi-Fi signals between radio transmitters set miles apart, often over terrain lacking even power lines.

I was reading WIRED magazine at work last night and found an article related to this emerging technology. I thought it was very appropriate to mobi(le) connectivity.

Of course, it could have a multitude of meanings, but for now I will leave it as such. Needless to say, now every major extension is regged.

PV, not sure what you are referring to.

For the image, I chose Hermes. Hermes in Greek mythology, is the Olympian god of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them.

"As a translator, Hermes is a messenger from the gods to humans, sharing this with Iris. An interpreter who bridges the boundaries with strangers is a hermeneus. Hermes gives us our word "hermeneutics" for the art of interpreting hidden meaning. In Greek a lucky find was a hermaion. Hermes delivered messages from Olympus to the mortal world."

WiLDnet is a legitimate but not yet common technology. It is a perfect tie in to the potential to bridge the gap to provide a mobile internet and technology to parts of the globe that does not have readily accessible internet.

Enter the phone and WiFi.

For more information on this, see http://tier.cs.berkeley.edu/wiki/Wireless

It has a play on words to many other facets as well including adult, wildlife, adult wildlife, and just plain craziness!

Cool analogy and choice of Greek god to represent the name. Also Hermes guides to the underworld-the 'unknown'. So for ppl who aren't yet familiar with WiLDnet-'unknown', it would be assuring to know that hermes' got it all sewn up? Thumbs up! :)
