I'm sure I'm not the only .mobi domain owner that has this difficulty....http://www.namepros.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I think to myself: 'I can dream up good ideas - a plan - for each .mobi domain I have; I can get the .mobi-compliant tech stuff done; I can find a server to host my .mobi sites; I can get them optimised; I can promote them....But.... where do I find the stuff to put in them???'

I know this is a very basic question....And the answer's probably: 'How long's a piece of string?', I guess...lol....But a few practical pointers would really help...

I see more and more great .mobi sites being developed by members here - and, each time, when I look at them, I can't helping wondering: 'WHERE did they get that content?....

...ie The databases of hotels, or flights, or sports, or banks, or travel, discount deals, or whatever etc etc? - The RSS feeds on the chosen topic that keep info on their .mobi sites current & live, and up to the minute? - The designed domain name logos, and the pics?...

Do I approach Camera producers directly, offering them the chance to display their products on my .mobi site?...Do I approach Banks, Stock & Fund managers to offer them the opportunity to feature their stuff on my Investment.mobi site? Same for Beauty? And, for Spa? etc.

Or, are there better - more coordinated sources for material?

.mobi site owners....Where did you get your content from, please...?...http://www.namepros.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ideas, leads, database sources, suggestions for suppliers of content, would be gratefully received...

Many thanks.

The articles on "free article websites" can be used in any medium, I believe
Getting content from existing businesses is the more time consuming way to do it.
If you want to invest you can contact third world English speaking writers but you have to make sure you edit their content and make random tests to make sure they are sending you original materials
Those are tips from my old web design days, don't know if they sitll work but they're worth a look

.mobi site owners....Where did you get your content from, please...?...

Well..I try to work together with content owners who don't have a clue how to make a mobile website. So offer your skills for their content.

Another option. Hire a php guru to write a spider which grabs the content of similar sites into a db which you can use...(watch out for copyright though) in your own..

Another option: wikipedia is full of information ;-)

Hi I'm not clear how much you want to do yourself. You could just hand the whole project to a web firm, or you could hire writers, or you could use non-copyright material.
Or you could arrange an exchange with someone who supplies content in return for whatever you agree on, perhaps a % of ad revenue, or royalties etc.

Using the free templates available it isn't hard to get a site up.
Writing good content can be time consuming but great for search results.

There are forums for writers, article marketing sites, even domaining sites that offer paid copywriting positions. Even Tim just posted on here for articles and filled the position.

Kiwi and I would gladly review spas for you and write about them in exchange for facials and other spa services lol - it's not as farfetched as it seems, my dad is a writer and we got comped for everything from dinner to Disney World.

Please note that if you use one of the "free" article services, you are expected to keep the links placed by the author intact. That is their form of payment.

Here are some sites to get you started:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/
http://www.articles-hub.com/
http://www.elance.com (negotiate with authors directly)

Don't overlook press release sites like http://www.PRWeb.com or http://www.PRNewsWire.com

Also do a search for "free articles" or "free content." I've heard good things about digital point's forum, but I think there is a fee to list in the marketplace. Also you could do a search for writers' forums. There are so many people who want to write, once you get started on a system it should start clicking in place for you.

If you want exclusive content (a good idea) specify exclusive in the contract.

odditysoftware.com do a whole raft of cheap database content that could easily be templated by a developer to fit a mobi site.
