Hi Media A...

I agree with you about the election voting process...it "sucks".

So I REGGED it for 3 reasons...

(1) It's a generic and in Wikipedia.
(2) Might be of "real" value to a Political Party.
(3) A developed site could be very informative and helpful to the great citizens of the USA.

Thanks for the reply...

Let's debate the electoral college here to give DMS some content for his site.

I find it odd someone from Kansas would hate the electoral college. Without it you would have absolutely no voice in a national election. The office of the President would be owned by the political machines of 20-30 metropolitan areas. There are 26 metro areas with a population over 2 million.

NYC, LA, Chicago, DFW, Philly, Houston, Miami, WDC, Atlanta, Detroit, Boston, SF, Phoenix, Riverside, Seattle, Minneapolis, SD, St. Louis, Tampa, Baltimore, Denver, Pittsburgh, Portland, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Sacramento.

Total population of about 125 million, with 5 of those in California. As a Californian I should love it. Our needs would dominate the national interests. Over 12% of the US residents live in California.

Looking at it another way, over 1/2 the population if the US resides in 10 states, CA TX, NY, FL, IL, PA, OH, MI, GA, NC

That's the difference between a Republic and a Democracy. The US is a Republic.

The Electoral College is an element of our checks and balances in the US Govt.

In many substantive ways, democracy is akin to mobocracy, though it sounds nicer. If 51% of the people want something, they can vote to take it from the other 49%.

It is happening in California through the abusive use of ballot initiatives. Put some bleeding heart cause on a ballot, pay for it through yet another tax on the rich, and BAM, you've got your money. Property taxes are getting too high for most people? BAM, put a stop to it and freeze taxes making a huge tax disparity between young and old. Majority rule aka Democracy is a horrible way to manage society. If we do away with the Electoral College (which requires a Constitutional Amendment) why stop there? Why should each state have 2 Senators regardless of population? That is by far a MUCH GREATER obstacle to Democracy.

And that was proven in the last 2 major elections!! Nothing personal media, but definitely a state of 'myopics' there!
Make that the past 4 elections, Bill Clinton never won a majority vote but he was elected President both times.

Gotcha, so in keeping with puppet references to politics I offer this candidate pair of a recent election:
