I have just joined Twitter and i am following a partycular company, they have sold 67 products in the last 3 hours, these are affiliated products. This certainly looks as though someone is making some serious bucks using their .mobi
I will be watching and learning from this company. :coo2l:
44% of users come from UK
11% of users from France

Yeah I noticed that url(s), last week. There's 2 I see a lot. They have got an auto tweet or something to make all those posts. Interesting whatever he's doing, but he's definitely pulling some traffic and site recognition.

Spot on Hawkeye, thats why your called Hawkeye:laugh:
I have found a script that can do the job, so i am going to try and get it up and running this week.
I am caught in a dilema, i dont want to say anything until i have paid alot of money for the script and tried this method out. The place where i found the script is nothing to do the company that is running these 2 .mobis, so not a scam type scenario.(i hope )
I estimate that this company is earning about $7000 per week maybe:adore:
There are 5 people involved and they are running other sites on this same system, so god knows how much they are making. I also checked the Alexa on some of these sites and they have promising stats.
The other thing to remember is that internet purchasing is up massively and with mobile access increasing this will be huge. Take a loook at dnjournal, elliots blog and the other big boys, they are all developing their keyword names into working sites. FOLLOW THE MONEY! They are not daft.

why not give the name and url?
If the figures are not genuine you could pay out for a script that gives low / no return.

If you want to know what this is about - just use twitter search on the obvious keywords.
IMHO the tweets are a bit ouside of a standard sales patten - so I suspect they are not currently making money/sales but they are making noise to drive traffic and get interest going.
But hey, I'm a cynic - good luck to however wants to copy this.

noo, I went to one site, clicked a costume name, then clicked the Price Comparsion link (only one there!) and was taken to a .com site of the costume. I then went back to twitter and there I was in the tweet, saying I was 'buying' after comparing. I don't think so. Just a lookie. So obviously they are 'stretching' things to entice others to buy. It would be interesting to know if they are selling and making money. Weird product for this time of year to be promoting, costumes!

So.... you use your domain (summersales.mobi) link it to sales feed for a suitable product / range of products & earn a tiny % commission on any sales?
What is the commission? 2% - 5% ?
Sounds workable.... afterall you could set up 100's of these and one assumes that the domains once linked to a sales feed would show up on google as developed sites?
tell us more! :coo2l:
noonoo1
04-13-2009, 01:37 PM
The commission varies from 2% - 25% have seen one at 500%
You can get one time payments of $150 for just a lead.
For example if you turn over $10,000 a month they let you have xml data feeds for free.
Now then, someones doing good business!
Paddypower betting offers some serious commission, as do insurance companies. Good job i have HouseInsurance.mobi :coo2l:
The trick is to join a few affiliate leaders such as commissionjunction.com, linkshare.com, then once you have joined you then request a relationship with different companies like play.com, argos.co.uk.
Then when you have a relationship with these people you have to email them and ask for there datafeeds, this feels like a closed shop and is very hard to get close to these feeds, they certainly feel as though they are being protected. The reason being maybe, is that alot of money is being made off this system. If the process is complicated not many people will be arsed to get involved, thats what i reckon anyway.
I found this nice article:
Well constructed affiliate marketing programs that engage these sites on behalf of companies to sell products and services on a commissioned basis have long proved to be an effective acquisition tool. Shop.org studies have consistently found that search and affiliate marketing are among the most efficient online acquisition channels. To scale and grow, affiliate programs must be actively managed by experienced affiliate marketers and given the right resources and attention, and embrace the new social media world.
I have altered more updated http://SummerSales.mobi CSS

What do you think I could achieve with domains like warranties.mobi then?
This sounds interesting...
I looked at summersales.mobi this morning & it went straight to a page of items for sale... that kind of got me looking for more. Whereas I just looked at it & it starts with a search menu & isn't overly clear what is what beyond that.
I reckon a simple but striking - effective home page would help you achieve more 'sticky' visitors?
How much do you have to spend to set up these links / feeds / accounts?
I hate it when I outlay $50 only to earn $7 over the following 3 months & then give up! lol :embarassed:

I understand what you mean about the front page but i am just tweeking the css at the minute and getting used to playing with the paramiters. The featured listings on the front page is quite good, i have managed to get 4/5 on ready, this was initially from the 2/5 earlier on.
I have just submitted the sitemap to google, that was a nightmare.:argh: But i got it done.
I have not created a logo yet or any direction.
I have a 100 or so descent keyword names that i want to try out, so im just getting this first one up and running and optimised.
I have not paid anything for the data feeds, i shouldnt have to either once i get accepted the these affiliate houses.
The site looks good on the iphone and i hope to submit it to the appsafari, it should get some descent hits.(i hope)
I have spent about 14 hours on this particular project so far. Considering my lack of experience about this part of the business i have not done to bad. It seems as though there is just one major part of the process to go through and thats the advertising push. Some of the datafeeds will have to be updated manually but others are automatic and i dont know how much time in maintainance i will have to spend each day on this:dontknow:
Google adsense for domainnames i tried only gave me $8 for a month on 40 names, so im going to give this a good go.

Has anyone been able to make some money from this idea?

04-14-2009, 12:11 AM
I will let you know, but I have a gut feeling about this. There are a few people on this forum that use similar techniques, one or two use amazon api. The ones that are making the money will surely keep their lips sealed and quietly buy keyword names;-)
This was so hard for me to do. I believe there are only a few on this forum that can do this. There is one person on here who is making serious money and he knows who he is, very shrewd man from the uk and he doesn't give any info away that could jeopodise his earnings. ;-)

Yes, us Yanks do have a sense of humor; however, we never share it outside the confines of the country we took from the Brits by force and guile and made them scurry back home for some pudding.
We are are simply too busy laughng at ourselves.

I was searching through google using the name summersale when i came across this site, http://www.summersales.net/
I looked at their front page and to my astonishment on the left hand side Gettag.mobi was being promoted and they explained how it worked.
Fantastic, this app from microsoft has spread quickly. Great for .mobi.
