I'm wanting to ***er my eBook buyers access (by phone, PDA) to info. in a password protected directory on my site for 3 months (as a bonus).

Yes, I can do this manually through cPanel.
But, that would be a real hassle should sales take-***.
(ever the optimist - LOL)

Any suggestions as to how this could be done - either partially or fully automated - and subsequently managed ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi David,

What is your platform ? Things like this can be easy done by scripting with PHP or ASP.NET. So..we need some more info to help yo.

He said cPanel, so I would assume it's a LAMP background.

You need a login form, and then authenticate their session, and simply use PHP to list the files in the directory.

I'd be happy to help if you cant figure it out.

The site is running on an Apache server, Linux operating system. There is a Password system available in the cPanel, however it requires manual entry on my part and I cannot stipulate an expiry date.
This could become very tedious to manage.

Any system needs to be simple for users to both Register and Login, as you will appreciate they will mostly be doing this from their phone or WiFi PDA.

As I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to scripting (fine with HTML) I am wondering if there is any software that can be installed in the server, or alternatively a third party site that could handle this?

I put the URL in my original post, but the signature police removed it. You can see the site at -

Thanks,
