And what was the buyout clause?

It was user "Mobi Cheap," who joined on 9/16 and has all of 2 posts. The buyout clause is NP's standard auction buyout clause for domains with no reserve:

Buyout clause for 'no reserve' aucitons: Seller may opt to use the buyout clause to cancel the auction results by paying the winning bidder a fee of 20% of the winning bid price, capped at a maximum of $6.00 or 300 NP$. Buyout clause does not apply to auctions that meet a reserve price. If you opt to use the buyout clause, please inform the winning bidder as soon as possible.

The way I read the buyout clause, the seller can elect to use it, but not the buyer. In this case, the seller would be choosing between letting his NNN.mobis go for $40,000, or keeping them and paying the buyer $6.00. So I would guess that the buyout clause won't be an issue. Hopefully the sale goes through....

BTW, I couldn't find the link at NP--could you post?

I can't find the thread either. Perhaps it was pulled due to fraud? I don't see user Mobi Cheap listed there unless I am missing it somehow.

In that thread, you can see that Mobi-Cheap opted to take advantage of the buyout clause. So, no sale...

Gotcha. When I posted, I had skimmed over the fact that this was 200 NNN mobis--I just saw the $40,000 number. At an average price of $200 per, I'm not surprised he took the buyout route.
