http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/340/C12766/Very interesting article. That was basically my thinking behind my Fines.mobi, PayFines.mobi, and PayYourFines.mobi.
Here in Australia you can pay your parking meter with your mobile phone...you have to dial a number, but it's still cashless. I think that's where the future is headed, towards cashless transactions, and the mobile phone is going to be in the center of it all.

Good future thinking Andres. I haven't seen anything like that here in the states. It's still good old nickels dimes and quarters. I'd love the ability to pay by phone, if I'm doing a bunch errands in downtown Sacramento I typically bring a bank roll of quarters with me to feed the meters. Ancient nonsense really.

I saw my first pay by phone parking area a couple of weeks in the Newton abbot train station in the UK, they basically ask you for your reg number then it's only a single charge of £4 per day i guess it was via premium rate SMS or something! Something i would have done but i had the cash anyways! But i guess in other carparks where you have a choice of parking time it would be reg number followed by how many hours you want to be parked for???
