I feel rather embarrassed to be asking this, but I signed up for AdMob and posted their code into my first genuine website http://belgiangp.mobi

The ad was placed to appear just above the footer, but it's been 24 hours now and no ads are served on my site. I've checked on a PC and mobile phone.

Was my expecting an ad to be placed there immediately contrary to how internet/mobile advertising works? Do advertisers manually pick the sites on which their ads will appear, and no-one has picked my site yet?

Thank you for explaining. This is all VERY new to me :frown:

Hi Hasham

I can't help you but there are enough here with the experience so I'm sure someone will come to the rescue! ;-)

Good luck with your dotmobi sites...

Hello Hasham,

Sometimes it takes longer then 24 hours, my past admob sites took 72 hours sometimes, and espiecialy with mobisitegalore (I noticed they took longer for somereason) Also who is your hosting, if you use the free godaddy hosting, I believe it doens't work (at least before it didnt for me)

Hope this helps and welcome to mobility,

Brian

Hashham,

Did you change the line of code from "test" to "live"?

And welcome NOOB!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I did change my code to "live", Gerry, but thebiffenator has almost certainly hit on the problem - I'm using GoDaddy freehosting. Hrm... They probably use some sort of script to block ads. I guess I'll just have to buy a hosting plan then, but only when I'm getting a decent amount of visitors I think.

Hi,

The problem lies with admob itself. here is the code being displayed on an emulator
<img src="http://t.admob.com/li.php/c.gif/u/a148b8115aec082/1/1/03dd65bd15edb142de13cc97bdc31f9c" alt="" width="1" height="1" />
Now if my memory serves correct height=1 width=1 is a pretty darn small image. you need to contact support with this code ive posted.

Cheers

Ah, thank you kindly rob  I would never have noticed that in a million years. I have forwarded them a bug report as you've advised, and I hope they get back soon.

Hi,

I'd like to hear the end of the story. Did Admob support finally replied?

Hi there. Yes, Admob support did reply after a few days, but they stated the sizing statement in the code was not the issue. After that I was at something of a loss as to what to do and have gone back to assuming it is to do with GoDaddy free hosting.
