Not sure if this has been noted before or not, but in case not - Amazon.mobi is up.

I am not aware of it. I am going to be looking NOW!

Whoa! On the PC is appears to be a redirect. But on the Helio, it appears to be a fully developed .mobi. Even in HTML mode it is a totally different site than what I am seeing on the PC and it even has a link at the bottom for;
Amazon PC site.
This may be a HUGE, HUGE .mobi news. No need to have a payment plan with any other company (PayPal, etc) as they are set up to take any form of payment.
Next step...I am going to order something in my cart!

Yeah, it should be huge because it is the largest B2C e-commerce site in US, probabaly in the world as well

Okay, I do think it is a full .mobi.
It accepted my log in and password from my Amazon account.
When I clicked on shopping cart it said it was empty. But I had two items in my cart from the PC site. But is was easy enough, with small images, to add something to the cart.
The amazing thing is navigation was easy and exceptionally fast loading on all pages. I am talking seconds from log in, to adding to the cart, to confirmation...seconds!
I remember seeing the following news early last month and thought nothing of it until now. Might have a been a precursor to this .mobi site:
Amazon's Flexible Payments Service to compete with Google Checkout, PayPal (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070803-amazons-flexible-payments-service-to-compete-with-google-checkout-paypal.html)
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070803-amazons-flexible-payments-service-to-compete-with-google-checkout-paypal.html
It looks like the Cola wars of the internet giants may be getting ready to heat up! Google Checkout is going head-to-head with PayPal and then BAM! along comes Amazon FPS http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=sc_fe_c_1_3435361_1/104-9066604-5529567?ie=UTF8&node=342430011&no=3435361
Plus Amazon is encouraging developers to use it and built it into their sites! Fees appear to be less than a standard credit card service!
And if this site, amazon.mobi, had been posted somewhere previously I am not aware of it.
If someone else could confirm what they are seeing and it being a .mobi on their device that would be great.

I was all set to use my amazon.com affiliate link a few weeks ago but it didn't accept payment on the phone then. I have to check to see if it does now.

I checked it on my Blackjack and it loads and looks great. It is a redirect, but, who cares!

(..Buy me something Gerry.. ..puhleese..)Does the blackjack give a URL? The helio does not.
And I am not seeing it as a redirect. It is odd that there would be a link on this dot mobi directing to Amazon.com page.

Does the blackjack give a URL? yeah, and it's long!
If you have an 'address' key, you should see the address of the site that is in use, when you access it.

Holy **** .. stunning news and thanks for posting it Hawkeye
Hmmmm .. It makes me wonder how long before ebay are up and running as a mobi since they also own paypal.

Okay, if it has an address key I have no idea where. It's still pretty new to me. Perhaps those bound pages and the CD I have never read or used are for...
Anyways, here is what I am seeing.
I enter amazon.mobi. In about 3-4 seconds I am here:

Then I scroll down to the Amazon PC link:
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb257/gotlab/a2.jpg
I click on this and it takes me to the Amazon.com website.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb257/gotlab/a3.jpg
It did take considerably longer to load by still I would say perhaps 20-25 seconds which is very good compared to other sites I have visited.

This is going to be major. I think the battle of the mobile internet is about to commence.
I read the news over a couple of items that was just no big deal at the time but with Hawkeye's hawk eye it appears to be a tie in to all of this:
Amazon's Flexible Payments Service to compete with Google Checkout, PayPal (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070803-amazons-flexible-payments-service-to-compete-with-google-checkout-paypal.html)
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...ut-paypal.html (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070803-amazons-flexible-payments-service-to-compete-with-google-checkout-paypal.html)
And then there was this news just the other day:
NBC Universal TV content moves to Amazon Unbox
http://www.topix.com/tech/2007/09/nbc-universal-tv-content-moves-to-amazon-unbox
It appears that NBC and iTunes/Apple had a big falling out. Looks like both got ****** at each other, Apple said it was pulling NBC from the iTunes and that very same day NBC and Amazon both announced their agreement.
Whew baby! It is about to get HOT in here!

Loads quick on my phone, but there is a coding problem with the forms and it won't let me log in. Username is busted but password is fine. Go figure.
I would have ordered a book if it would have let me.

I would have ordered a book if it would have let me.I had no problem logging in. Items were added to my cart just to see how it worked.
Items from the PC site that were in my cart were not appearing in my .mobi cart. Items I placed in my .mobi cart were not appearing in the .com cart. So there appears to be a common interface on somethings but others...no.
Unless this was intentially created to be two fully independent formats and sites.
Still, simply awesome news.
How did you come across this, Hawk? I see no promo on the .com site.
Yeah, I'm on the DNForum bunch. But I'm tired. Worked last night, 3 hours of sleep.
Damn, they never give up. I curse them all to have 11 children each tuned into HSM2.mobi 24 hours a day!

With the dig From Andres about all the NBC shows on .mobi and this lastest partnership with NBC and Amazon, could there be some cross promotional going on??? Huh???
Instead of promoting the watching of pilot programs on iTunes, could spots for
See the Pilot of Bionic Woman on your cell phone at Amazon.mobi
be in the air?
Watching pilot Television episodes even before they are televised? WOW. What marketing and thinking outside the box. Using the internet to premiere the first episode of a new series.
NBC says goodbye to Apple, hello to Amazon (http://www.webware.com/8301-1_109-9770887-2.html)

NBC Universal didn't waste any time replacing Apple.
http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/bto/20070904/NBC-logo-RGB-pos_270x269_120x119.jpeg
Episodes of The Office and Heroes will begin appearing at Amazon's Unbox starting next Monday, according to a statement released by the companies.
Amazon customers can download the pilot shows for new series, such as Bionic Woman, and Chuck, free of charge and in advance of their network premiers. Other shows will will be available on Amazon Unbox the day after they air. Amazon and NBC Universal are offering a range of packages, including a 30 percent off deal when purchasing a complete season in advance.
NBC Universal and Apple engaged in a public relations battle last week (http://www.webware.com/NBC%2C+Apple+play+game+of+brinkmanship/2100-1027_3-6205701.html). The spat started when NBC announced it would not renew a long-term contract to offer TV shows for download on iTunes because Apple wasn't offering favorable enough terms.
In response, Apple said it wouldn't sell NBC's shows for the upcoming season.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, the login, password, shopping cart, and ordering process went smoothly, quickly and without a hitch.
My first ever order on a mobi site using a mobi device.
I am at home, at peace with myself, and all the planets are in alignment!

IMO, it looks like they're just testing. They've made no announcement nor are they promoting the .mobi yet.
