Well seeing as I keep seeing my name here I thought I'd sign up and join in the fun!
Hi, I'm Andy, a bit of a mobile geek, it's what I do while avoiding a real job and a real career, I run a few mobile sites and mainly churn my living through ringtone and music downloads on the mobile web.
To be totally honest I try my best to do the highest paying little as possible as possible and for now mobility is ticking the right boxes for me though I'm getting bored with it now it's going mainstream and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.
I created a plugin for WordPress which mobilises a blog with a few clicks: www.wordpressmobile.mobi and this is now powering a good few thousand mobile blogs.
I also published a snippet of PHP to detect mobile phones, this is on dev.mobi as well on my personal site, that's being used on over 10,000 sites now I estimate.
There's a load more but breakfast is calling my name and my stomach is more important than forum banter about mobility!!
:)

Welcome Andy to the forum!
I hope your contribution could help some of us who know very little about mobile development like me :)
Well breakfast for you, dinner time for me here in Australia...
Take care

Welcome Andy...
Thanks for wordpressmobile.mobi and I second Andres when he says he hopes we can make this all fun for you again!
(believe me, if you make yourself available for problem solving / brain-storming etc.. you won't get a free moment for the next 5 years, so I hope you had a BIG breakfast! ;-)

Nice to have a living legend amongst us.
:adore::adore::adore::adore::adore::adore::adore:
If not for you, I would have actually needed to code mobiEnthusiast.mobi (http://mobienthusiast.mobi)
Welcome to the forum and I hope you have lots of laughs.
All the Best,
Coast (Holly)
Welcome aboard Andy!
Your expertise is more than welcome here.
PS many mobility members are familiar with your wordpress and autodetect script but what they dont know is your an expert at seo as this google search shows #1 result for "ringtones" http://www.google.com/m/search?mrestrict=xhtml&eosr=on&q=ringtones yes mobility members web2txt.co.uk belongs to Andy!

Welcome on board, Andy. We all know you very well already, most of the people here do use your auto-detect code.

Oh WOW, thanks folks, you're amazing!
No I've not been scared off! :)
I'm honored and humbled to get such an awesome welcome here, seriously, I'm touched and I'll bookmark this thread to boost my morale next time I'm feeling down and unappreciated!
Yes, web2txt is one of my babies! I'm a Director and shareholder in Palace Marketing which is the company behind it though I personally registered the domain for a text message based project back in 2001. Funny how things grow and morph away from the original idea!
Richard, yes I've one or two and registered detectmobilebrowsers.mobi which I now plan to turn into a mini site for the PHP to detect mobiles. Inspired by posts here, thanks!
I've also got moslate.mobi a micro translation service, bilda.mobi which is a platform to deploy mobile sites that I've not actually had the time or energy to complete and package off for commercial usage plus more in the pipeline. I've also got touchdictionary.com which is a dictionary for mobiles if you hadn't guessed.....
One of the cooler ones I plan to develop on day is monames.mobi which will be a little site where people can check the status on a domain and register it in realtime through their mobile phone if it's available. It'll be a mobile extension of my hosting business.
Too many names, too many ideas, not enough time, not enough hands!!!
:)
Thanks again folks for such an awesome welcome!

Hey Andy, welcome brother
It's good to have you in the family.
We need more people like you in the mob world.
It's bizzare... I was just over at your andymoore.info site a couple hours ago having a poke around, and now I find you here. You're not following me are you?
Anyways, it's good to have a high priest around, in case of trouble, and it'll be good to talk to you some time, to brainstorm some ideas.
You say... "Too many names, too many ideas, not enough time..." tell me about it, I'm hearing ya buddy!
Ciao for now.
Ciao for now

Welcome Andy,
I am not so often here, but saw you were on board in the "messaging.mobi" tread and I really had to post a a message to you!
I have quite a few mobisites in the air. Most of my sites are in Dutch. I have thousands of visitors on these Dutch sites every day, and all visitors pass your PHP script to detect mobile phones :-)
I really have to thank you for sharing that php script!! :adore::adore::adore: It was the first time I worked with php, and from then I learned more and more!
Thanks again and maybe speak to you soon!
Stijn
