Hi all, just completed my latest .mobi which is Torbay.mobi it's a sort of yell.com but a local one for hotels, restaurants, taxi's and tourist attractions. Torbay is a very popular holiday destination and pretty much most Brits would have heard of Torquay as it's the main town in Torbay.
Please have a look for yourself and tell me what you think, i welcome positive and negative feedback so feel free!!! Link is below!!
Cheers Chris

Hi,
Congrats on your new project :).
My opinions:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Contents are excellant! Congrats! :D
But maybe you can put more efforts on interface IMHO :). The background color makes your site looks boring. I prefer white for background as I can play much more colors with header, links, normal text, etc.
Also the logo is too simple. Maybe you can attach graphics to your logo like boroughs.mobi, johny.mobi, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck with your new project :)

About the only thing I would suggest right now is to condense the intro paragraph or put some of it in an "about Torbay" link. On a smaller phone it hogs the screen. See attached.

Thanks for your comments guys, i'll just explain some of the points in a bit more detail:
1. The long intro was basically designed to be keyword rich as i've found most of the search engines love the first parts of a mobi website, but i suppose i can condense it further!! But i was under the impression the more keywords on the index page would get me better results SEO wise??
2. I am trying to keep the site as simple and as quick loading as possible as i feel rapid loading times will be the 'be all and end all' for mobi sites, i know if i were using a mobile site if it took longer than 5 sec's to load i'd probably go elsewhere!
I will take on all your comments as i feel a fellow domainers criticism is the best and harshest criticism which is better than a customer looking at the site and buggering off unhappy!!
Thebiffenator I would love to see what you can do reference a logo for the site, i am working on a network of local/regional websites all with pretty much the same overall page design, so maybe a generic sort of logo could be a good way to proceed, I will get in touch with you via PM or something and we'll talk logos if you have some spare time!!
Cheers all! Chris

Yes, lean mobile sites have to walk a fine line between SEO and content bloat. But take a look at boroughs.mobi, its is fairly lean in terms of bloat but now ranks #6 in PC google search for "boroughs." Considering you have such a strong keyword URL for your site content, you may be fine trimming the content down and still get good SEO.

I will definetely take your advice everyone i've been stitched up to look after my parents house while they are off in sunny Spain so i'm away from my comp but as soon as i get a chance to get over which will hopefully be tomorrow sometime i will set about condensing the intro and will post in this thread once it's done for the critical eye's to wonder upon it again! Hopefully by the end of the week it could be moulded into perfection!! LOL! Or at least easier on the eye's anyhow!
Thanks all!

I like it--well done!! Lots of relevant info for users on the go, which is exactly what mobi is for. I also like the business model--offer free listings now, get some publicity for it, and when it takes off you can charge businesses to be featured. Very similar to what I'm trying to do in the US with my geos. Congrats and rep added!
