Here is a new one that I thought was BS.
I tried to advertise Beatitudes (http://beatitdudes.mobi) on admob and pay for the ads. And guess what name was forbidden. "Jesus" I was shocked, its not a bad name lol it is actualy a first name of many too lol. I'm gona have to write them a little letter :)
Now I got to wait until it gets accepted this should be interesting. (I have a feeling it will get rejected) I had to call the ad "FREE Chrisitian Forum" Instead of "Mobile Jesus"
Jesus lol

That's shocking Biff, is there a list of their "bad ad words" available?

I'm goan try to find one, I got to head out but will be back in like 2 hours.
I mean I could understand if it was a terrorist name or something but not a common name of religion. I can also do picture ads, so tonight I will creat some and see what happens with the name jesus embeded in a jpg or gif.
Sorry for Edit: But I did some more testing
I did some ads with other sites, that were parked but the names went through. These were the names of the ads.
Moses Forum
Ghandi Forum
FREE God Forum
Those names were not banned HMMM
Im gona try some other names when I get back and see if they pass, if they all passs then there is no reason at all for them to ban the name Jesus
This is what the message says:
" There were problems with your submission:
The name of this ad contains words that are not allowed. Please remove these words.
The content of this ad contains words that are not allowed. Please remove these words."

To be accurate it isn't the name of a religion, it's a personal name, probably a million people with that name today. I wonder if they've banned Mohamed also.

F*** me I can't F****** believe that they consider J**** an unacceptable word, what a bunch of C****
I suppose we can't use words like N*****, P***, J**, H********, Q****, either...
I hate censorship... as much as some people disgust me, censorship (within the boundaries of law) is wrong... at least it is in my F****** opinion...

I post on a financial markets forum in the UK and I frequently get posts rejected for the most trivial words and indeed words that are perfectly acceptable in the context I'm using them but get blocked anyway.. sometimes they're so innocuous that it takes me 5 minutes to work out what word it was that the filter didn't like..

Biffenator:
I know little about about this subject of accepted vs. non-accepted ads but my take on this would not be a rejection based on some secular pervasion or relgious stance.
More than likely, the are standing on the trade mark pedestal and determinng that your use of this word would be infringing on the photographic work THE BEATITUDES BY FRANCOIS ROUSSEAU.

I disagree on the trademark issue. Beatitudes is not a trademark name whereas it is derived from a latin word, (beautus) that means Blessed.
They just as well would ban the word Bible in that case.
I think it's deeper than that & it's something I would definatley voice my grievence to the respective company which in this case is AdMob..

I think it could a mere computer generated ban too but who knows. I will keep you all updated if my ad gets approved.
Thanks for the insight again all
Sorry for edit I thought it was the other thread

I don't think they actually put any thought into it. It just might be a program that checks trademarks and came up with this.
See what happens when you mix religion and domains.
Been enough applications to trademark over the years
