They're a large banking firm etc
Also while checking found this good link which reviews banking .mobi sites amongst other things. Quite interesting comments etc
Even the guy who designed the site posts, which is cool

Very good information.
Also nice to see a firm spell out and show the difference between "mobile browser" and .mobi as being "mobile friendly."
What is a mobile friendly corporate website?
When typing in www.ing.com on a mobile browser the ‘normal’ ING website appears (see screenshot below), including all branding elements, downloads, etc. The mobile friendly page - http://ing.mobi, on the other hand, is very accessible and easy to navigate.
I think these firms, ad agencies and PR agencies, will be a huge factor in selling this to corporations globally. We have already seen this being done on one clip (Edleman). They good ones are going to offer the complete package to their clients. The complete package will be print, broadcast, internet, and mobile content.
Plus, not to mention...mobi mentioned by any writer or jounalist using the word .mobi not only helps bring awareness to .mobi but also helps it get indexed.
Enjoy the ride.

I've seen ING before but it was great to read the developers post and this response from ING:

I am the Internet Manager at ING and responsible for the ing.mobi site. We thought hard about what we wanted to provide, and decided to start with simple information of value to the Analyst/Journalist group. The site has been well received and we're proud to see it recognised here. Thank you.
Did you note a potential naysayer squeezed a coment in?
about why aren't they using m. etc
lol
A nice find though the review site even if i do say so myself.
Nice to see northernrock.mobi using (redirect) & hsbc.mobi (redirect)
and wachovia.mobi (NO redirect) etcetera etcetera
I find em all over
Tell me if you want me to post more
I'm sure you know all this :embarassed:

Andres is always looking for more sites to update his list here http://mobility.mobi/showthread.php?t=10
If you know of any more PLEASE lets us all know!!
sure no harm in posting. and sometimes reading stuff gives ideas for new lines of regging and marketing, sometimes it shows me what i don't want to do. also it gives info about sectors of industry.
when i throw up news items, i just check up .mobi and some ad words and start posting in real time. let me say, there are a lot more sites out there, especially mobile ad and mobile feed sites trying to relay the mobile world.
tangent --
i sublet a space in Soho, NYC this year for my real estate co. My sublessor does video editing freelance, and his company was xxxxxx.tv. I quickly realized that .tv was being used behind the scenes in the industry, and i thought that the extension was there to stay. seeing mobile ad and mobi news companies and feeds makes me feel similarly. (almost like the .com is nice, but if you're really talking about being in the mobile world and mobile things, go with your .mobi as the statement, well almost)

lolThat would make it m.ing.com as in Ming...Ming Dynasty or Ming the Merciless.
Doubtful ING's investors/stockholders want to end up on a Chinese History site or Flash Gordon site...maybe even Flesh Gordon :eek2:

I've seen ing.mobi. But Pred, that is a GREAT write-up and comments from ING, nice to see a MAJOR brand articulate a strong case supporting dotMOBI.
Pred, thanks for sharing.
Here are ING stats:
ING covers 60 million private, corporate and institutional clients in 50 countries with a workforce of over 115,000 people.
In the 2007 Forbes Global 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Global_2000), ING was the tenth-largest company in the world.
Revenue: $73 billion

Very good lateral thinking there Gerry...
ING is not only pretty big in Europe, but I understand their model is growing at a steady pace. They have some challenges ahead, but ING Direct is not only well positioned to face them, but also needs desperately a clear presence in the mobile space. The fact that they've chosen .mobi says it all about the extension...
