Hi all. My 8th geo is now live -- NewportNews.mobi (http://newportnews.mobi) -- please let me know what you think. I'm trying to walk the line between making them all seem a bit unique, while not reinventing the wheel each time around. As always, suggestions/comments/criticism/diatribes are welcome!!
Thanks,
MM

Good content as usual MM. Are you providing the content to your developer?

Even less worrisome in terms of trademark is that he's not doing "news for Newport"...it's all about "Newport News," the city in Virginia. I don't think he needs to worry...

You a GEO monster. Looks nice! But there is no logo or graphic showing up on the phone. Simply a white background. Never did see the ships that I see on the PC.
I also think it is a great idea to be offering legal advice to a lawyer.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm pretty comfortable with the TM situation. Newport News is the actual name of a city in Virginia (if you're following the disturbing Michael Vick saga, odds are you've heard of it). So even if there are companies that use the same name for their business I'll be OK as long as I don't compete with them. Think of Columbia (the country) and Columbia (the sportsware company). And even though I'm a lawyer, I don't do any TM work so I'm always happy to hear from members who have TM knowledge--I can definately learn a thing or two from them!!
Scandi--regarding the content, I find it myself. If you Google a city (or just go to the city.com site), you can find tons of info to help fill out the listings--it gets easier each time.
Gerry--not sure why the ship pictures aren't showing up on your phone. They are there on my BlackJack. I'll look into it, and thanks for the heads-up.
RIC--I'd be happy to help with your Virginia geo. I went to college in Virginia so I know a bit about the area, although I'm back in Kentucky for now and evermore. PM me if you would like to discuss further.
Regards,
MM

MM, I'm able to surf the web, but when I try using your link at the top, I get the dreaded
"
res://shdoclc.dll/pagerror.gifThe page cannot be displayed
"
Maybe there's a tear in the space time continuum in my part of the world?!:dontknow:

I think I heard something about that on the radio while driving into work this morning....:laugh:
Do me another favor, if you don't mind...try any of the other geos listed in my signature. Those are working for me as well. And just to cover all the bases, have you tried typing newportnews.mobi directly into your address bar? Thanks, and sorry it's not working for you......

I think I figured out what might be going on... I've been trying to connect to your sites from behind a firewall, and couldn't get through to any of them. They come up great on my blackberry and newportnews.mobi looks great by the way. I can't confirm that this is the cause, but I'll try from my home pc later tonight and verify.

You are on the roll, buddy! Great job, keep-it up. If we more have people like you developing 8-10 sites in such a short time, it would be awsome. :wavey:

Do you know if there is anything on the site coding that can help prevent problems in that regard?

That's a legit question. I know from firefox and explorer, that I can't see your sites from behind a firewall. Unfortunately, I can't check the code at the moment. I'll take a peek at home. Though my initial thought would lead to think that it's not in the code. Then where would it be? Good question, I'm already on the outskirts of my knowledge on this one as well.
