3 month rule is still waived, but the more recent the better :)

I'll kick things off with a gem of a domain, Ringtones.mobi, scores 4/5, owned by NeoMedia

Nominated sites for July 2008:
ringtones.mobi (http://ringtones.mobi/) - 4/5 - NeoMedia
Why.mobi (http://Why.mobi) - 5/5 - Andres
SDCA.mobi (http://SDCA.mobi) - 5/5 - Gerry
type1.mobi (http://type1.mobi) - 5/5 - Work In Progress

I have 2 mobis I'd like to nominate if I can.

First being Rob's http://departing.mobi , scores 5/5 on Ready . Great site that has high Merit IMO !!

I also would like to nominate Gerry's http://icpr.mobi ,
I haven't seen many people as passionate about .mobi & I think iCPR.mobi has merit in itself. It's a site that I have as a favorite due to the importance it would have in an emergency, that in itself made me nominate this site.

Thanks for the nominations. Departing has been added. As for iCPR, I love the site but unfortunately it's not making the min ready score for the mobi of the month competition. If someone can help Gerry sort out the coding hick-ups it would be my pleasure to add it to the nominations list.

Personally, I would nominate FragerFactor.com.

I can not think of anyone site more obsessed, possessed, and distressed about mobi and during a sensational job at getting the word out.

It scores 0/5 on ready.mobi but I would gladly concede any nomination to Owens baby.

He has worked tirelessly to convince the world and his readers, which include:

"linked-in to over 10,000 thought leaders in 32 countries including 4 heads of state, 28 members of the US Congress, 178 of the Fortune 500 CEOs, 8 billionaires, 4 media moguls, professors at 30 universities around the world, and now… YOU!
"

By far this succeeds our best efforts to include mTLD's at getting the word out. Our soft-hearted, friendly informative approach to why.mobi? is a dismal attempt at his massive tell-it-like-it-is campaign of why.mobi! :mad2:

I also hope and pray that by offering my concession speech to him that he will stop threatening lawsuit upon me and others.

After all, anyone that owns :adore: bucko.mobi has got to be a decent guy in my book.

:laugh::laugh: Regrettably, this fine mobile unfriendly site does not score the requisite 4/5 at ready.mobi.

I think Why.mobi should have a special place on the top of the page. I really think that Why.mobi should always be on the top of the page regardless of Mobi of the Month nominations or for that matter, votes.

I also nominate Why.mobi however my vote is to be on the top of the page for infinity not for Mobi of the month, which would only give it a month at the Top.
I think that we should differentiate between the two but that's only my thoughts.

If anyone agrees or disagrees with my statement then please let me know & maybe this view should be placed on another thread..

Best Regards

I Think Why.mobi "should not be the nomition of the month" and should be used for informational purposes only!

...Only due to the pure fact that it has self spoken words by its self!
Save it a few month's down the road, if we all chose to nomitate it.

There other great sites everyday springing up now from our community :) And that is what the mobi of the month means to us all :)

Lets not use an Ace yet!

Lets not make "why" a trophey or Model Yet...Instead lets all expand our own development first to show the world and have Why.mobi on our Pages and developments!

I really have to nominate departing.mobi.

I think it is one of the slickest, cleanest in appearance, and most well executed and planned sites.

It is so ideally suited for the mobile and PC functionality.

It just makes me think, "what the heck will Rob come up with next?"

This all said with a broken Big Toe...But still will walk with it :)

PS..... A few months ago I had to rush my old man to the hospital and even passed a school bus on the right hand side and stopped at a red light, right before the hospital (but had the hazzards on the whole time and I made sure ....the school bus saw me....I kept honking) He gave me the sign to gooo.....alll within the school zone.

What does this mean? I reallly don't know.... :adore:but i cared about the school kids in the Bus and my father that fell out of my car at the ER Drop off 2 minutes after when I drove him there 8 am. He is fine now...

BUT the POINT OF THIS iS ..... Let them Sites Shine now :) And just do it! I am growing older with the rest!

Lets See another awsome development!

Regarding why.mobi, I discussed this with Andres and he was concerned about a conflict of interest since he's the owner of both why.mobi and Mobility. Very noble of him but I couldn't care about that TBH. No rules in the MotM about who the owner is and I don't think just because Andres owns a site it should be excluded. The thing about it for me is that why.mobi is already linked to on every page here at Mobility, both the PC and mobile versions in the footer, and is prominent in many member's signatures as well. There is no shortage of exposure for why.mobi here at Mobility. I'd like to hear more opinions on this before I add it to the list.

Why.mobi is certainly outstanding. And we can all salute it as a the site of the year.

But being an ongoing awareness campaign, I think we should continue to honor and bring awareness to member(s) site(s).

I've got to agree on this. Conflict of interest? Bah! Why.mobi is a group effort brought about by multitudes here. It's continued presence in our sites and sigs will surely out-weigh any MOTM exposure. Save this for individual member / team sites, IMHO.

I STILL think that Why.mobi should be MOTM!
Give all who worked on it a pat on the back with this TIMELY reward!
Also, because of the critical timing in the mobi world to gain more traction,
ANY publicity promoting this excellent site should be taken advantage of!
As for the "individual" sites, and because of this special circumstance, push them ALL into next months category!
The other contenders are great and I hope they would agree to postpone their competition / glory for one more month.
Besides, it will keep them "advertised" for that much longer in the MOTM thread!
Why.mobi helps ALL of us! The ENTIRE mobi Family!
So give Why.mobi it's due recognition this month.
Thats my two cents and I'm stickin' with it.
And besides that, its my Birthday today!
Now, wouldn't making why.mobi the MOTM be a nice Birthday Present?

SEO people. Kill the link already.

Speaking of SEO, I vote for Why.mobi next month. Why? Because we need to get the first press release out and next month when it wins (and it will, I believe) that will be the second press release. Also, we will be well into summer and that's when .com sites lose a lot of their traffic and .mobi sites soar if last year was any indication.

<geek talk> As for iCPR, the version of Joomla that is being used is still generating sites via tables, right? When the tables disappear and are replaced by <div> tags the ready.mobi score will jump. Isn't the next version of Joomla supposed to be tableless?</geek>

I'm good with any of the other sites nominated. I like departing.mobi a lot, and ringtones.mobi too. This is going to be a tough month to choose a winner.

I agree that Why.mobi should be at the Top of the Page but as I said in the past, Why.mobi should have a permanant place on this site.
I applaud all who worked on Why.mobi & I too feel that the hard work of all who participated in the development & thought process be recognized.

There will be those who disagree with me on this but I have my opinion and that is Why.mobi should NOT be pooled in with the nominees for MOTM period...........

There are Very obvious reasons why I stand by my statement & I will gladly voice them to whom ever wishes to hear ,

Let me ask you this!! Would you want to have a site that you build in the same nomination as one that was built by many ? I think not.....

I agree that Why.mobi should be at the Top of the Page but as I said in the past, Why.mobi should have a permanant place on this site. It does, in the footer of every page and in the signatures of many members. If this fact impacts the vote of those participating in the poll I completely respect that judgment, one way or another.

I applaud all who worked on Why.mobi & I too feel that the hard work of all who participated in the development & thought process be recognized.I agree, and am trying to work out a solution for that for all winning sites.

I respect your opinion and I found this decision difficult TBH, the principle that won over was that ultimately I didn't want to constantly be hunting for extra reasons not to accept a nomination, but rather want the competition to be as accepting as possible within the parameters we've already set up. We don't want adult or offensive material which certainly is not the case for why.mobi. It scores the requisite 4/5 at Ready.mobi and meets the other criteria. Whether or not a site may or may not win shouldn't govern if it's nomination is accepted. This was a tough call but someone had to make it. Hopefully those who disagree with it can understand my reasons.

Scandi, I'm sure you're in the middle on this one and I do know at times a decision has to be made & not everyone will agree with that decision.
This is all part of the process that is collective in nature & although I do not agree I can't fault you because I'm sure you have many other opinions on this issue & a decision Had to be made.

I support the nomination of Why.mobi because there is precedent for group efforts winning MotM. Our first MotM was RecalledToys.mobi, owned by MediaAdvantages. One of the reasons cited for the win is that it was a collaboration between MediaAdvantages, Seanboy, Developmy.mobi and me. Unlike the current mood, the win celebrated collaboration. It garnered significant media attention at the time it was released. Of the four members of the development team, only the domain name owner received the MotM badge. If Why.mobi wins, Andres will get the badge if the precedent holds.

There is a lot of discussion amongst developers that think it is not fair that they do all the work and don't get credit, and the answer has been that they are getting paid so they don't need the credit. Personally I side with the developers on this one. If there is a graphics designer involved, I'd like to see that person get credit as well. Unfortunately, as a volunteer organization the moderators simply don't have time to keep track of all of this in addition to their regular mod duties and real life responsibilities, or I would propose another category of MotM for teams, developers and graphics. As you can see, this would quickly get out of hand.

At this time I would also like to nominate http://type1.mobi, Work In Progress, 5/5. It's juvenile diabetes site and it's a keeper.
