View Full Version : Problem Adding admob

Work In Progress

I'm currently having a problem that keeps popping up. I started changing over from Adsense to Admob on newhairstyles.mobi (account newhair)

All of my Gallery pages are pretty much maxed out on size, getting a 4/5 due to file size. With adsense installed, I was fine. When I take off adsense and ad admob, I get a 3/5 and can not continue. Is there a logical explanation I can't do this? I've noticed this on some other sites I have as well. I didn't think the code from adsense to admob would be much different :dontknow:

I even tried deleting an image on one of the bad hair day pages and still got the 3/5. :confused2:

Thanks for the help
Mark

We have corrected the issue. The page scores lowly because of its total size, large graphics and too many external resource. Please have a look at http://ready.mobi/results.jsp?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fnewhair.mobi%2Fbad_ha ir_day_7.php&locale=en_EN#External%20resources%20. for more details.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your answer at all. The link you give is to a 4/5, which my galleries all have by design. 4/5 is what I shoot for on the galleries.
My problem is when I added admob and took away adsense, I was getting a 3/5 and not being allowed to publish. Again, I even tried to reduce the file size by deleting one of my gallery images (something I really don't want to do), but even doing this showed a 3/5 when I replaced adsense with admob. So I went back to the adsense and the 4/5. I do want to replace this soon though. Hopefully, I'll be able to do this now.

Is anyone here running Admob on MSG? Do we know if it works in general on MSG ? If it does usually worlk, then there is a problem specific to WIP's file. Admob is less code than Adsense, so it should not increase page sizes AFAIK.

But admob with PHP needs some functions installed that don't seem to be part of the default PHP install... so if they are not installed on the server then there would be an error... if errors are set to be suppressed the public won't see them.

It was working fine on my smaller pages on newhairstyles with no problems. It only acted up on my larger file gallery pages (which happen to be the most visited and viewed).

The main reason I want to switch is admob ads view on a PC, while the mobile adsense does not. The majority of my views come from FireFox, then IE, so I'm missing a lot of potential $$ in keepng the adsense at this time.

you could autodetect so that Google non mobile ads display on non-mobile sites - I did that, also because the Google search box should only be on the non-mobile site since it opens onto a page 800 px wide. And I still have the google mobile ones displaying on mobiles.

Adding admob code doesn't affect the page rating. When we informed, we had put admob in the page. Currently it has adsense again. If we can have a page with admob code that creates such a problem, we can analyze the same and do the needful.

OK, I've been trying to add this code on more of my galleries. I still have the problem. When the page was created, it scores a 4/5 (as the live site now). When I simply ad admob code, sitebuilder is now telling me the page rates a 3/5 and won't allow me to add the code.

I have about 45-50 subpages that need this code added. How can I get this done?
Thanks

Have you tried this experiment: take one of these problem pages, briefly remove ALL content, then just put in the admob code (which you know works on other sites). If it then works ok then something in the page was the problem, if not, then the problem is with MSG.

email sent to mobisitegalore with code.

gogo.....this same code was put on other pages of this site (had problems then as well but they fixed it...see earlier post). Now that I have a little time, I wanted to put admob on all of my pages / subpages, but something in the system is mucking things up. Hopefully, they'll get to the root of the problem soon!

Hi sorry I didn't take on board that they fixed the same sort of thing before.

I'll shut up now and let MSG get on with their good work. Nice free service just seems that sometimes new features have teething problems.

If you want the autodetect script the one at dev.mobi is ok http://dev.mobi/article/lightweight-device-detection-php

Both newhairstyles.mobi and newhair.mobi are throwing a 500 error. However, we have added a test page (admobtest) to the account newhair and added your admob code to it. The site preview is showing the Ads properly. Can you please verify the same and get back to us if the problem persists?

Please let me know when you do something like this. For months, every time I publish an update, I have to go in my cpanel and change permissions. This site is my most visited site and I don't want to risk loosing visitors leading to a 500 error.

I changed permission and admob "test" is now showing...but this was never a problem. :argh:

The problem lies in my already built pages that are a 4/5. Not a fresh, new page. I explained this in as much detail as I could. I'll try again.

All of my Gallery pages are effected. Not new pages. Not existing pages that have few images. Only the gallery pages that are at 4/5. These pages already have adsense. They are 4/5 with adsense. When I add admob code, they drop to 3/5. I tried to delete the adsense code and add admob....still 3/5

I will now delete this test page. Thanks

FYI- I have to publish this site in php and html for it to resolve

You seem to have changed the page extension as HTML with AdMob code in them. Hence all the pages are now serving AdMob code directly instead of processed PHP output from AdMob. That is why all of them are scoring so low with ready.mobi.

Again....these score low (4/5) on ready because of the 10 images. I've pushed the limit on purpose to get my visitors the most I could. When I add the admob onto these already 4/5 pages, it scores 3/5...and MSG sitebuilder does not allow it to be published. This has all been done in php. I try to publish and get a 500 server error. If I re-publish the update in html, the site resolves.

If you read my last line in my last post, it reads "I have to publish this site in php and html for it to resolve"

That's why it's in html now. If I only publish any updates in php, the site brings up a 500 error. I have to go back and re-publish the entire site in html also. Then, it resolves. :hmmmm2: It's been doing this for awhile, as well as some of my other sites.

We are analyzing the issue further and will update you soon on the same.Just for your info, it was also doing the same with the adsense code. I was removing adsense thinking that might have been the problem. Ideally, I would keep adsens on the bottom and admob on top of each gallery page.

We have tested the website by creating a sample page with the content that you gave us, with images(with out style attribute) ,Admob & Adsense goodies in the ready mobi test it scores 5/5 and after deleting the goodie it scored 5/5. So, there is no problem in application.

When we tested the website, prior to adding the sample page, it normally scored 4 out of 5 due to the page size limit. After deleting the goodie it scored 3 out of 5, due to the images present in the page, which had style attributes and not due to the goodies deletion.

Please folloow the below steps to remove the style attributes,

In the pagemanager >> Edit the web page >> In the editor there is tool bar which had <Edit HTML > click on that it shows warning msg >> click on ok >> It shows edit source code >> In that the user can remove his style attribute and submit. Like this the user have to remove style attributes in all his webpages.

In our test page the style attributes are not present, we indicate this on screenshot. Also in users page the style attributes are present which indicate on screenshot. Please refer for the difference.

Still not sure what your definition of "style attributes" is (sorry, the screenshot is unreadable)

I've been playing around with the html editor and have found that even though you remove the adsense in the page editing section (non-html edition...just using the "remove" tool....it still leaves some adsense code, which I removed with the html editor.

This works on most of my problem pages, but not all. I have found that I also have to remove the subpage links on some of the pages to get back to a 4/5. I had to add the links again and it works. Have no idea why this has happened :hmmmm2: ...but it looks as if I'll be able to go back and fix things now.

I haven't tried yet to add admob code, but I'm crossing my fingers it will work now. It's a bust day at work today so I'll report back ASAP on this
Thanks

I need to update this now. I have been working all day now trying to add admob code on multiple pages, using a variety of methods. The best results came in using the "remove" feature along with taking out left over code via the html editor.

Several times I had to go back 4-5 times as I kept getting "common error" messages

The bottom line is, when I published, multiple sites came up not resolving in Firefox...same thing that happened with evacuations.mobi awhile back. It seems that the mobisitegalore editor does something with the extra </div> line on random pages, as this happens sporadically. (Thanks again gogo!)
I had to go into my hosting cpanel and add this to about 15 pages so far.

The biggest issue now is, I've got a 404 page not found error on the Bad Hair Day page. :hmmmm2:

It was there before the edits but now, it's gone. And I didn't add or delete this at all in website manager.

Edits seem to be increasingly difficult in mobisitegalore sitebuilder. Is there a reason for this? I cringe when I make an edit as I'm afraid of results.

I would love to know if these problems are being addressed and what happened to my bad hair day pages?

This is my most visited site with visitors growing daily. Please let me know what can be done.
PS- If you make changes, please don't publish until you contact me so I can change permissions. If you test and publish without warning me, the site will be down.

Thanks,
Mark

First of all the page has been renamed.

The correct url: http://newhair.mobi/bad_hair_day_7.php (http://newhairstyles.mobi/bad_hair_day_7.php)

Current url: http://newhair.mobi/tttt_68.php,

This is why your page is not found, because there isn't one, it's been renamed.

In your Cpanel (Hosting Account) for newhair.mobi along with newhairstyles.mobi, you will need to change the href in the index.php page, beings that all of your links from your newhair.mobi go straight to php pages.

So in your Cpanel for newhair.mobi

1. go down to index.php
2. click on index.php
3. upper right hand corner in Cpanel, click "edit file"
4. then track down to this line;

<span class="accesskey">6.</span>&nbsp;<a href="tttt_68.php" accesskey="6">Bad Hair Day</a><br /></div>

Change To; (bold area only)

<span class="accesskey">6.</span>&nbsp;<a href="bad_hair_day_7.php" accesskey="6">Bad Hair Day</a><br /></div>

"Click Save"

Your current "newhair.mobi "bad hair day" html page is working (however it looks as if none of your pages resolve to an html page.) (http://newhair.mobi/bad_hair_day_7.html).,

The "bad_hair_day_7.php" page in your Cpanel needs an adjustment made, http://newhair.mobi/bad_hair_day_7.php

1. Click on that page in your Cpanel
2. Click on "edit file"

There are currently two closing div tags, then a closing body tag (</div></div></body>) with page not resolving,

Remove the second closing div tag so that it reads </div></body>

If your php page still doesn't resolve and your not able to figure it out, change your password to a new one, pm it to me & I'll fix your php page for you.

Thanks for scouting this out Newbiz.

This is a MAJOR PROBLEM. To me, this is a cardinal sin for a site builder. I just found out through Scandi that I've got a page missing on FBIMOSTWANTED also.

So now, I have to add to my update worries
#1- will his update resolve?
#2- Are my pages now gone?

Come on Mobisitegalore...there should be no reason my pages are missing. I did not update those pages in my past 2 updates. They're in my cpanel folder, but they now point to ??? seems to be old test pages you created and are no longer there?

Please get this fixed asap

These are probably two of the most visited mobisitegalore sites out there. Not only is this bad for me, it's certainly bad for you as well

Thanks

BTW....I DID manually fix this thanks to newbiz. Great spot....thought the same problem might be with fbi, but it's not. I have no idea what happened there.

Becuase, if you have directly edited the content from the FTP location, then Admob goodie will not work properly and if you publish the site all the changes will be removed.

In FBIMOSTWANTED, we wanted to know what are the pages that were missing, and from when it was missing and your login details.

As stated, there were no updates done. I DID make some updates yesterday (using MSG) , well after the missing page was reported, to the featured fugitive page and top 10 fugitives.

The main thing I edit outside of mobsitegalore is the title, description and meta tags in my cpanel... I only do this because of the restrictions you guys have for length of titles, descriptions and keywords. This is the only way I've been able to obtain a good search engine placement.

I have also edited code as below, shown by newbizindisney to get my page(s) back up. This was on newhairstyles. The page in question was bad hair day. I have had several similar problems that have happened after an update...most notably, the need to add or take out a </div> tag that sitebuilder put in (or emitted)...both have happened...in order to view my site page in firefox. Just check back on the evacuations.mobi post in this section to see what I'm talking about. Again, this problem was pointed out by a member.
The missing page on FBIMOSTWANTED is "Sexual Predators"
The link points to http://fbimostwanted.mobi/sexual_predators_4.php, which is in my cpanel. :dontknow:

I don't like the idea of having to change the code in cpanel. But if I want my full site up and operational, I've found I must. Then, I have the same problems I have to fix every time I edit in MSG and publish. Not fun and a big waste of time.

On another note, I've stated this multiple times, but need to again. Please let me know when and if you republish this (or any site). If you don't let me know, the site will be down until I manually change permissions. This has been going on for over 6 months. It's an easy fix I don't mind doing, but I need to know when it's being done to cut down on down-time.

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd keep this in the problem with adding admob thread we already have.

Just updated celebrityaddresses.mobi as I've been getting over 1000 uniques a month the past couple of months. Needed to add admob / adsense code.

I went through the typical procedures, had to change my settings from html to php....inserted the code and at published. At first glance, it seemed as if all was well. When checking each page, one is not resolving. It's displaying the message

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://celebrityaddresses.mobi/celebrity_homes_l-o_8.php
Line Number 3, Column 1:From what I could tell, this was something wrong with the admob code addition. I have no idea why all of the other pages, including a new one, work, but this doesn't. Sure hopes this helps you in figuring out this reoccurring problem.

We are not able to simulate the issue for celebrityaddresses.mobi, when we check the preview the page works fine. Please do a full publish and cross check the same.

Regarding newhair.mobi, we see that the site works fine. We are not sure of the page that got renamed(tttt_68.php), our application does not rename any of the pages.

Please note, we do not publish any of your websites during our testing part.

If you check out the published site page (http://celebrityaddresses.mobi/celebrity_homes_l-o_8.php), and yes, I did just republish it...you'll see the exact same thing. And this page was working fine for months before I made the admob / adsense addition (had to change the publishing options from html to php, of coarse). I did nothing outside of MSG at all.

As for newhair, the site now does work, thanks to gogo's suggestons. I had to make the changes he stated outside of MSG in my cpanel. Once this was done, the site resolved. I now have great fear that I'll go through the same thing next time I do a revision.

As for you guys not publishing during testing? That's something new, because it has been done sevral times in the past with support letting me know there was a problem "when we" published the site. Just looking at the last problem with newhair will dispel this. The site was obviously republished with a "test page" at some stage. That's where the latest issue came into play with the missing tttt_68.php page. I didn't make that page. Someone from MSG did. I know I didn't republish newhair in the past couple of weeks. The only time the permissions change is when it's republished through MSG. I've not had any issues publishing outside MSG. And the permissions changed yesterday AM, as the site was down, as stated. I simply changed permissions, as I normally wold, and the site was back. This tells me someone at mobisitegalore is publishing during testing.

No problem

Any help yet on my missing page (http://celebrityaddresses.mobi/celebrity_homes_l-o_8.php) of celebrity addresses? Where did it go, why did it go and will it go again when I update in the future?

We have verified the issue, the page (Celebrity Addresses L - O) works well in the preview. Please cross check the same in the preview and then do a full publish.

I have seen it works in the preview. I republished again (and also tried using the publishing options page). Same results though. Same error. Checking cpanel, the file is intact. It's just not working :dontknow:

When someone reports a problem with a site not working properly in the browser(s), or page missing, or any other snags that seem to be a reoccuring theme, it is the Browsers that MSG needs to cross reference with, not preview. Those MSG sites will work all day long in "Preview" (which is not an actual browser) that's not where the problem lies.

There still is a problem with this page: "No Element Found"

syntax error,

unexpected T_STRING in;

<b>/home/ideaeart/public_html/celebrityaddresses/goodies/AdMob/195984.php

</b> on line <b>65</b><br />

/ideaearth/ is missing the "h" in the above identification string in order to properly retrieve the element.

We would like to clarify few things about the mobile site builder's way of handling files so that it can throw light on some of its behaviors and limitations. Basically mobiSiteGalore keeps track of the pages by its file name at the time of creation, say bad_hair_day_7.php. When you rename it subsequently, only the page title and the link texts change but not the file name which remains as bad_hair_day_7.php.

Also it can't keep track of the manually created hyper links given within the page content. If a page deleted and recreated in the same name or if the page extension is changed (from html to php), the old manual links to the corresponding pages won't work as the page name would have changed now. Hence they have to be corrected manually. Only the builder created links (like the ones in the home page) will be updated automatically.

And during publish, just the files are transferred through FTP but their working can't be ensured as they depend on the hosting environment. Hence we can bench mark their working only from the preview.

While checking your website, it shows the following error message,

"500 Internal server error:
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@celebrityaddresses.hailer.mobi and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error .."
So, please contact your web hosting provider to solve the issue. This error is nothing to do with mobisitegalore.

Oh Boy,

It's becoming quite old explaining this same situation (seen in multiple responses in this thread and many other o my MSG support threads.

This error message will always come up when you publish one of my sites... until I change permissions.

Please look at thread and see this has been covered MULTIPLE times!

OK. Now that's off my chest...the page in question is still showing the "no element found" message :mad2:

We still have the same problem. Please PM me, post or email me at ideaearth@gmail.com when you need any changes published so I can change permissions

* note to mobisitegalore support *

In order for my visitors to have access to a page vs the error the update created, I have changed the index page in my cpanel to direct the page to the html version vs the php version

The error page is well documented in this thread for reference. Please let me know when this error is fixed so I can publish the new, intended php page

Thanks newbiz! repped, of coarse

This issue has not yet been fixed (and it's happening again in other projects I'm working on as well). Sending PM

The page is showing because I switched an old html page as newdiz had suggested. MSG sitebuilder is still serving up the error page

The php file is simply the admob code you have pasted for the page (which is used as an include). Hence it should be the issue with the input you have given. Can you please verify it?

This has been verified. The problem was in the admob code somehow. I deleted the code, then re-installed, then published. Now page resolves

Thanks
