This is simply incredible and perhaps the shot that will be heard around the world propelling .mobi into living rooms all across the nation and the globe.

Bank of America sponsors NFL to target its fanbase

NEW YORK, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp (BAC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) wants to add customers who are ready for some football.

The second-largest U.S. bank plans on Thursday to announce a sponsorship making it the National Football League's first official bank ahead of the start of its 2007 season next month. The three-year sponsorship runs through the 2009 season.

"The NFL has the most avid fans of any American sport, with 120 million fans across the U.S.," Susan Faulkner, a Bank of America deposit and debit executive, said in an interview.

Bank of America is already the official bank of Major League Baseball and NASCAR stock-car racing.

The launch comes as the Charlotte, North Carolina-based bank prepares to complete its $21 billion purchase of LaSalle Bank Corp from ABN AMRO Holding NV (AAH.AS: Quote, Profile, Research).

That acquisition will cause Bank of America to bump up against a 10 percent federal cap on deposits, though it may exceed that cap if the growth is not through an acquisition.

Bank of America is using the NFL sponsorship to expand in "affinity" marketing, a specialty developed a quarter-century ago by MBNA Corp, which the bank bought last year.

Affinity credit card holders accrue points through cards imprinted with organizations such as sports teams, charities or universities. Bank of America last year created "affinity banking," offering special rates on some accounts and imprinting logos on checks and statements.

The bank said it already has affinity credit cards with all 32 NFL teams. It plans on Thursday to launch check cards and checks for four: the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Washington Redskins. Faulkner said the bank would seek similar tie-ups with more teams.

Not sure which would be better, a .mobi in a superbowl commercial or on the hood of a NASCAR car. Either would be absolutely huge.

i'm not gonna allow myself to dream they'll use the .mobi.
that would be too much ... surely???
if they use bofa.mobi on a nasdaq bonnet, then Pred gets on a 747, & nails one of those hot cheergirls on the very same bonnet, in full latex battledress of course :dontknow: why not? :embarassed:

this page thrills me on daily basis:
http://www.bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking/index.cfm?template=mobile_banking&statecheck=CO

the fact the mobi gets mentioned is perfect.
then clicking the 'test drive mobile banking' is such a professional sweet display
it is perfect to show any future clients you work with on mobis potential & how sexy it's all gonna be :adore: bofa.mobi

the redirect thing?
well, bofa.com redirects to the bankofamerica.com etc, so does the bofa.mobi.... and?
oh, i forgot, the naysayers aren't here. they have their head down the toilet honking up their dot bizes & dot .ws's :hahaha: naysayers.mobi

Back on topic, yesterday I was having beers with a friend who is a long time commercial RE broker in Sacramento. He was fiddling with his new Blackjack and I asked him if he has visited any websites with his phone. He had and was terribly disappointed as the site was a complete mess and took too long to load. But some sites would look ok so he was utterly confused and figured he was doing something wrong and gave up. So I asked if he banks at Bank of America. Sure enough he did and I suggested he fire up his phone and visit bofa.mobi. What's dot mobi he asks. So I took a few minutes to explain the concept and he punches in the url and I wish I had a picture of the grin he had on his face. "So if it's a dot mobi website I know it will work on my phone? That's awesome!" This guy instantly got it. Now he's eager to save time using bofa.mobi, and I'll be curious to find out how many other people this guy will tell about it. Word is getting out, from Biff's bar maidens to Scandi's beer buds, thousands of conversations are occurring about .mobi every day around the globe.

from Biff's bar maidens...Yes, getting back to topic, is it my imagination or is there a weekly quote that goes something like this?

"this could be the future Mrs. Biff..."

I remember those days before getting hitched. I look at it this way, the more maidens Mr. Biff meets, the more people know about .mobi, so keep up the good work Brian, you'll find the future Mrs Biff in due time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3yj7hGnywkI think Michael, aka Boca, Boca Vision, Vision, Loca Boca, Vida La Boca or something like that found it first.

I remember seeing it a long time ago and could not find it. Had to really dig for it. Found the kayaker's name (Brett) on their US Olympic team site and then had to dig and dig on YouTube to find the vid.

So credit to whoever originally posted this some time back.
