I just had to read that article because the whole concept of tying in VoIP (which I assumed was totally attached to your computer LAN or router) to .mobi was too confusing.
But this is INCREDIBLE AND HUGE NEWS!
Imagine that others, like Vonage, are going to have to follow suit. I think Cisco already has .mobi but I know they are getting into the VoIP market along with all the big players like Google and Yahoo. Yahoo is attempting to form strategic alliances with existing telecommunication companies worldwide (especially in Asia) rather than attempt to go it alone.
The whole concept of having a VoIP service for your home based telephone and now you can take that same service with you and use it on your cell phone!
Plus, you can take your phone where ever you go, make international calls by accessing you VoIP account and pay no roaming charges at all!
I am absolutely amazed and shocked at the tie in of VoIP/.mobi.
A great find and definitely a must read.

Voip will be huge on mobiles plus samsung grabbed ivoip.mobi back in sept .. smooth ...I never saw a connection between the two (VoIP/.mobi) until now. This could be a major boost. If you have VoIP pushing mobile telecommunications, it may signal some cooperative effort on both VoIP service and wireless communications. When you get land based services and wireless going at it together instead of competing, that is a win-win scenario.

Hello everyone, I have Skype but am curious as to which is the cheapest. I am trying to calling around then US and Canada as well as International calls to the Philippines. I mostly want a teen line but a good International number wouldn’t be bad either. What do you think is the best VOIP service? Please answer me out. Thank you very much in advance.

Good job. Thanks for bringing it in. Repped

Except if you are a telecoms company owner/shareholder. At the moment, providers are caught in a dilemma: they have to provide mobile internet, and know -or will learn- that the time of the walled gardens is gone forever. However, they'll resist that change to the point of blocking the user's ability to use these services. Will they succeed with this strategy? In the short term, they may...but as consumers get more tech-savvy they will find ways around it. Furthermore, Android could make a great difference on this. Either way, the future is an open internet and users availing of these and other services that make their life easier. They make sabotage Raketu or Skype for some time, but if the technology allows it, users -guided by geeks- will find ways around the problem.

What's a teen line?

my view on operators is that if tey don't act fast they'll find that handsets are made for the voip market - cutting telecoms out of the market altogether so they are in a lose / lose situation - not good for consumers because no profits = no infrastructure!
I'm sure there'll be a deal along the line - well! - if the mobilenet needs telecoms infrastructure that is? (& I can't answer that)
