View Full Version : domain name forum traffic down to 2005 level
The numbers she noah lie...
What do you guys make of this. Is there a trend away from forums or just these forums? Are people going to tech blogs like techcrunch, et. al. to get the news and then talking in chat rooms or what? What's up? Anyone know?
See attached graph.

I doubt there is a relationship but it's kind of interesting that it somewhat coincides with the release of .mobi.
I didn't want to be the one that made that comparison :bath:
You'll notice a peak right about September and then....down down down. DNF is almost back to 2004 levels really. I wonder if it's been discussed elsewhere and if it is a wider phenomenon.

Well, you can't blame it on Mobility, we're only a month old:laugh:

Is it more spread out because there are more forum choices? Most of us here were tired of defending .mobi instead of brainstorming how to make it great.

Nope...but we will be kissin' domainstate soon :aetsch:
Maybe in a year or so we'll meet at that "2" mark...maybe sooner if more players join...
I see we have the :adore:big G represented here now...and :adore:mTLD...that'll help :)

well....I joined DNF in feb 2006 and NP in March 2006 simply because I did not know of them.
Then in May 2007 I have been unfairly banned by DNF and they won`t even reply to my e-mails.
So I guess what goes around comes around.

DNF has gone overboard on the political scene...in the literal sense of the global politics and religious issues and on the moderator sense.
I too, it seems, have been targeted by one particular moderator.
But you know what? Surprisingly, I have lived and survived all these years with out them. Imagine that...I have gotten by with out them and NP all these years.
While I still consider myself a vital member of DNF (while others wish I would simply disappear and some have outright asked that I be banned) I find it to be way over self serving for a few.
Appraisals are a joke, I am often times asked to bump up an appraisal for the sake of appearing highly valuable to an apparent perspective buyer who may be steered in that direction.
Basically, if you are anti-bush, pro-mobi, anti-war, non-US citizen, pro-IDN, and state true and accurate facts...you are in for a long drawn out battle.
These are mostly the same "experts" that years ago and even today preach the same crap 5 and 10 years ago:
Nothing but .com
No numbers
No hyphens
Nothing over seven letters
I am glad they are still preaching this and people are buying into it as this leaves many markets open and available.
ItalianDragon, you are correct...what goes around comes around.
That is why we seem to have come around to this spot...Mobility.
Even if this was not a .mobi forum, it is still an effort to promote a product and a service and work together which all the other forums seem to be lacking.
It just so happens to be about .mobi. Doubtful any or many other forums can claim such dedication to common cause by its very own members.
Therein lies the true value of mobility...it is moving forward. The name speaks for itself.

here in mobility.mobi, it seems like traffic is growing, i just joined the forum, and there's potential for further growth since the site is dedicated to .mobi discussion and exposure to new trends in .mobi world
Traffic is still in a decline...it looks like it is making a very minor back from vacation correction, but the pig picture is down...way way down...
Also, you can see that np and dnf are nearly identical in trends...
I'm not exactly sure what the cause and effect is here, but the simple conclusions are don't advertise at both places and that people are getting their information and trading in other places now. Where? Chats and blogs for info; Afternic, Sedo, and Ebay for sales?
Lastly, the peak of all time hitting at the height of .mobi frenzy and then sinking to an all time low at the bottom of the .mobi bashing is really uncanny. I'd like to say it's just deserts, but more than likely it is some kind of evolution in information retrieval.

the peak may coincide with the business 2.0 article that made domaining sound like the lotto...the newbs get beat up and screwed and then drop out.
I've ranked the parking co's that I'm aware of at the moment.
Sedo (declining - not pictured because it reduced the appearance of the others)
Namedrive (declining)
Bodis (growing)
Parking Panel (static)
Active Audience (static)
Goldkey (declining)
1plus (static)
Despite members commenting to the contrary - the numbers don't lie.
DNF just experienced the worst traffic ranking since 2004 - ouch.
I know there are some die hard DNF members here and I recognize and appreciate your loyalty, but the environment for .mobi investors at these two forums is just abysmal. I'd say that DNF is definitely the worst of the two.

I think I just took it back up to an all time high.
Man, we're talking a FRIGGIN BARN BURNER all in about 5 minutes or less. Showed them what it is like to invade another thread and comment on something that does not involve me or concern me.
Plus, the mods or admin had obviously imposed a limit on the number of words I can post!
I had all the main players there within minutes and seconds. PM's flying out the wazoo asking me what the F was I doing. The entire thread is edited now.
But those that saw or participated got a dose of reality regarding what it was like to jump in a thread and post comments that have nothing to add value to the thread.
Wow...that was fun as hell!

Hey Ger.. my hero :)
I was there and I saw it. I was wondering why you said what u said about editing posts b4 they show.
Whats funny.. is that most of the am it was nice.. polite and resonalble conversation. Then BAM in walks maroulis and acro went back to being .. well.. acro. Talk about sheep :argh:
Lord forbid we should actually make some progress with the way those people see .mobi.
They closed the thread then reopened it. I am thinking that this particular thread and the mobi 'success or failure' thread on np are what gave them the very slight increase in traffic that Tim noticed lol
I have posted the question again in both threads. I wonder if we will ever get a reply? lol
thread is locked...DNF owes you a debt of gratitude not an imposition of terms, Gerry. You are an asset to a forum. Others are =left(asset, 4)+"s"

I am through feeding the DNF machine. Contributing to that group of ignoramuses is about as useful as a monkey ****ing a football.
